Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking an Embedded Space Software Engineering Manager with the desire to learn new technologies to join the Remote Sensing Programs Software team in Linthicum, Maryland.
The manager will be responsible for providing technical oversight through the entire software development lifecycle (including design, development, integration, and maintenance) of software components along with support of system integration and test. Additionally, you will manage and lead a matrixed functional team of software engineers (approx. 10-15 engineers) through software process, career development, and performance appraisals. The software manager will also participate in proposal generation, staffing allocations, and recruiting. The manager will guide their team in applying the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the system development life cycle in support of programs.
The candidate should have experience in leading and coordinating a team through challenging software development activities. The manager must guide their team utilizing an Agile development approach with tasks including decomposition of requirements into agile features, software design, coding, testing, integration, and systems test to deliver enhanced secure capabilities. Strong communication and people leadership skills are vital to this position.
This is a Functional Manager position, meaning that approx. 80% of the time you will be working programs, and approx. 20% of the time you will be performing managerial duties.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or other STEM degree with 5 years of relevant experience, or a master’s with 3 years of experience
3 years of progressive software engineering/development experience
Experience as a team lead for a software development team
U.S. Citizenship required
No clearance required to start, but must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance with SCI
Preferred Qualifications:
5 years of progressive Software Engineering/Development experience
Experience as a scrum master and/or product owner
Experience with functional management
Experience managing a budget for technical activities
Experience with the Atlassian tool suite (Jira, Confluence, Bit Bucket)
Salary Range: $127,800.00 - $181,200.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
