Description:POSITION PURPOSE

Under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, assists nursing staff with various patient care activities. Adheres to MercyOne’s performance expectations and performs all defined services and other related duties in accordance with the mission, vision and values of MercyOne.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Provides safe, personal care to patients.

Maintains clean, organized patient rooms and work areas.

Transports patients.

Based on principles of growth and development, provides care appropriate to the age related needs of the patients served on his/her assigned unit which may include:

Birth – 28 days             Neonate

1 – 18 Months              Infant

18 Months – 3 Years   Toddler

3 – 6 Years                   Preschool-aged

6 – 12 Years                School-aged

12 – 18 Years              Adolescents

18 – 65 Years              Adults

65+ Years                    Geriatric

Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health’s Organizational Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Basic Skill Set - Requires the ability to read, write and understand the English language, and communicate effectively with patients, visitors, staff and physicians while performing their job duties. Minimum of 6 months patient care experience preferred. BLS. Mandatory Reporter.  Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training (NVCI) within 6 months of hire. Basic language, minimum math, basic reasoning ability. Ability to work with diverse groups of people. Ability to work under pressure and to take direction from others.
