Emergency Department Technician
Overview M Health Fairview, Woodwinds Hospital in Woodbury is now hiring! As Emergency Department Technicians, we participate in providing a health care experience that empowers our customers and their families to live life better. The Emergency Department Technician (EDT) is responsible for assisting the professional nurse in the delivery of patient care, transporting patient and/or equipment, setting up and maintaining patient rooms, and re-ordering and stocking supplies. The EDT may or may not be given a patient care assignment based on unit needs and the discretion of the professional nurse. Shift: 0.6 FTE, 48 hours per two weeks in 12 hour shifts, night shift (7PM - 7:30AM), every third weekend rotation. Responsibilities Job Description We work closely with RN's and Dr's to ensure the best care for our patients. Provides emergency care to patients in the emergency room by monitoring the patient's vital signs Assists with patient care as directed by RN may include but not limited to point of care testing, IV-line setup, discontinuation of IV, enema, suture removal, restraint application, catherization, 12 lead EKG Transports patients by wheelchair and cart Assists doctors and nurses during medical procedures and/or collecting specimens by following proper technique Support of the Emergency Department such as ordering supplies and maintaining equipment Provides for patient safety and informs RN of patient observations Qualifications Required License/Certification/Registration Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification required upon hire and must be maintained throughout employment. Ontrack participants must be able to ontain Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification upon completion of the OnTrack program. And one or more of the following Current EMT or ERT certification upon hire. This certification does not need to be maintained throughout employment. Or Current Paramedic Certification. This certification does not need to be maintained throughout employment. Or Current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire. This certification does not need to be maintained throughout employment. NOTE: Individuals who have completed a Nursing Assistant program and are scheduled to take the NA Registry exam will be granted 90 days post hire to become active on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry. Or Current enrollment in an LPN, RN or Nurse Practitioner program, and completion of one (1) semester of clinical rotation within the program Or Six months of recent direct patient care experience in an acute care, long term care, or home care setting. (Appropriate roles may include Nursing Assistant, PCA, or Resident Assistant) Or Successful completion of Fairview’s OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program. Or LPN licensure upon hire. This licensure does not need to be maintained throughout employment. Preferred Experience Previous Emergency Room experience of 1 or more year as an Emergency Room Scribe, paramedic, ERT, EMT, EDT or ED EMS Current CNA or NST experience of 1 or more year License/Certification/Registration Paramedic, EMT, ERT, LPN, CNA, PCA EEO Statement EEO/AA Employer/Vet/Disabled: All qualified applicants will receive consideration without regard to any lawfully protected status
