Overview Responsible for receiving emergency and non-emergency calls, determining the nature and/or severity of the call, and dispatching emergency services by using radio and telecommunications systems to transmit details to appropriate emergency services departments/personnel to respond as needed. Qualifications EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT High school diploma or general education degree (GED); no exceptions. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT No additional experience required. COMPUTER SKILLS An individual should know Internet software, Spreadsheet software, and Word Processing software. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets the requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating. Must obtain certifications in Oklahoma Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (OLETS) and/or Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) within one year of hire date. Must possess the National Incident Management System (NIMS) certifications below: ICS-100: Introduction to the Incident Command System ICS-200: ICS for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents IS-700: National Incident Management System An Introduction OTHER QUALIFICATIONS The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE). Must be able to operate computers, have basic clerical training, and basic telecommunications training. Knowledge of Law Enforcement ten code preferred. Must abide by the Office of the Marshal staff code of conduct, embrace and implement the Home/Health/Hope Cherokee Nation Strategy. PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to ten (10) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to correct/adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally be exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather); work near moving mechanical parts; work in high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outdoor weather conditions; extreme cold (non-weather); extreme heat (non-weather); risk of electrical shock; work with explosives; risk of radiation and vibration.
