The Emergency Management Coordinator provides disaster preparedness awareness and information and prepares emergency plans and procedures for natural (e.g., hurricanes, floods, earthquakes) or technological (e.g. computer network failure, nuclear power plan emergencies, hazardous materials exposures) disasters, terrorist attacks, active shooter or hostage situations. The Emergency Management Coordinator is responsible for planning deliberate practice and simulation on a small scale, up to and including complex, multi-agency drills. The position will be responsible for compliance with CMS, Joint Commission, State and Federal regulations governing the institution's response to disasters. Responsibilities Acts as a professional expert to provide staff with knowledge and resources necessary to achieve desired outcomes related to emergency preparedness -- both to "internal" and "externa" emergencies. Demonstrates competency, skill and accuracy. Maintains knowledge through proactive educational activities and literature research. Promotes open communication. Runs Beebe Healthcare's entire Emergency Management Program Performs Team Member Education in the form of HICS education, Incident Command Center functions, De-escalation techniques (e.g. CPI Training), and various emergency-related plans, policies, and procedures Conducts Drills: from small, clinically based drills to large, comprehensive, multi-agency drills. Deliberate Practice and Simulation occur on a frequent basis throughout the year. Performs Community Outreach as well as proactive communications with local, state and federal agencies to ensure a robust, connective network. Performs accurate and comprehensive After-Action Reports (ARR) after drills and real emergencies. Follows up on and ensures all outstanding action items identified via ARR are implemented and "closed" Performs proactive research and applies evidence of effective emergency management and disaster recovery procedures to written form of Plans, Policies, and Procedures. Ensures redundant systems and record-keeping Equipment and Financial Responsibility; prepares and monitors expense budgets within budget guidelines Actively ensures Beebe Healthcare meets all CMS, Joint Commission, State of Delaware, and Federal Requirements as well as City of Lewes and local requirements related to Emergency Management, as well as other areas of applicable accreditation, certification and regulatory compliance Prepare and monitor the expense budgets to ensure within budget guidelines. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree or higher, Master’s Degree preferred. At least 5 years' experience in an emergency management or emergency preparedness role, or in a role that frequently manages crisis situations. Managerial/Supervisory experienced preferred. Clinical experience preferred, in the form of EMT or nursing degree, or higher. Knowledge of Hospital Incident Command System (HICS), Disaster Recovery, Joint Commission and CMS Requirements, as well as State and Federal regulations strongly preferred.
