Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Administrative Fellow - Emergency Management & Enterprise Resilience.
The mission of the Emergency Management + Enterprise Resilience (EM+ER) Fellowship Program is to prepare rising talent with a passion for emergency management for a career in the fields of emergency management, public health preparedness, healthcare emergency preparedness, and other related employment avenues through direct participation and mentorship in NYU Langone’s EM+ER. Through this 18-month, full time and salaried program, fellows learn by assuming increasing levels of responsibility and become involved with a broad range of preparedness, mitigation, response and recovery programs, while being precepted by EM+ER’s department leaders. The successful candidate will be placed at the very center of NYU Langone Health’s Incident Command System (NICS) and encouraged to take on leadership roles while working on a wide-array of emergency management skills, including planning, executing training and exercises and operational activities with stakeholders throughout NYU Langone’s three core missions – to serve, to teach, and to discover.
• This position is responsible for coordination, planning, operations, development and performing highly responsible administrative work in the field of Emergency Management.
• This position carries out the duties of the department including leading planning teams, authoring plan documents, conducting complex trainings and exercises, and managing the response to emergencies
• This position will also manage projects and be responsible for other assign duties as needed
Term
18 months (12 month + 6 month renewal based on 1 year evaluation)
Assignment, Locations & Schedule:
• Reporting to various locations with primary location being Manhattan (in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Mineola, Long Island) based on a fixed (and flexible) schedule
• Monday-Friday, 35-hour-per-week work schedule
• Fellows will be required to serve as a 24/7 Emergency Manager OnCall (EMOC)for the period of one week on a rotating basis after approximately 3 months of employment
Program Structure
During the first 3-6 months, the EM+ER Fellow will be exposed to the wide variety of the EM+ER’s projects and plans to educate and orient the Fellow to the functions and structure of the organization’s preparedness and resilience. Upon completion of the first six months of the Fellowship, Fellows will become fully immersed in multiple enterprise – wide initiatives as well as projects at the location-specific level. In addition, Fellows will be responsible for developing and owning a project from 6-18 months that aligns with both their personal interests and department initiatives.
Job Responsibilities:
• Lead/assist leading interdisciplinary teams to execute broad based and integrated programs of emergency management planning, training and exercises
• Develop (author) and promulgate operations-level plans and detailed tactical procedures for emergency response and enterprise resilience
• Build and maintain sustaining professional relationships with staff, managers, departments, and facilities across NYULH enterprise
• Work with staff, managers, departments and facilities to test, review and update emergency operations plans, business continuity plans and tactical procedures to ensure their successful implementation.
• Support strategic risk reviews with key stakeholders to maintain the Hazard Vulnerability Analysis (HVA) and the comprehensive all-hazards Emergency Operations Plan (EOP)
• Within 6 months of employment, be on a rotating schedule with EM+ER staff, be available on an on-call basis to receive incident notifications and to activate and lead emergency management response activities
• Be available to work off-hours (nights and weekends) as needed during emergencies
• Serve in a key emergency management role during incidents, emergencies and disasters of all types and sizes
• Liaise with emergency management agencies, regulatory agencies and other external stakeholders on matters regarding emergency management
• Collaborate with assigned team members to support these job responsibilities
• Recommend and coordinate procurement of equipment related to emergency management as well as auditing its maintenance

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have:
• Bachelor's Degree in Emergency Management, Urban Planning, Public Health Preparedness, Emergency Preparedness,Homeland Security,or related fields of study
• Experience equivalent to1 year of relevant work in a field such as emergency management, public health, hospital administration or emergency services, including work in an office setting
• Interest in pursuing a career in the field of Emergency Management
• Demonstrated project management skills, analytic ability, and strong written and verbal communication skills
• Completion of ICS 100, 200, 700, 800
• Knowledge of methods for the development and maintenance of emergency management programs and initiatives
• Ability to work with data, including management, cleaning and analysis
• Ability and desire to work both independently and collaboratively
• Desire to be challenged and willingness to learn in a dynamic and fast paced NYC environment
• Energetic, Independent, hardworking and a self-starter
• Flexible and willing to assume a variety of role assignments and deal effectively with ambiguity
• Service, team and learning oriented
• Knowledge and fluidity in Microsoft Office applications
• Experience with emergency management technology tools (Ex. SendWordNow,VEOCI, etc.) a plus

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $55,000.00 - $70,000.00 annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
