Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY

The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) assumes responsibility for individual professional actions and judgments, during both independent and dependent emergency functions. The EMT functions independently while applying the usual skills of the certified EMT in an ambulance setting. Advanced EMT skills in the ambulance setting are under the direction of a physician.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.

      Minimum Required:  Graduate of an accredited program for the training of EMTs.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES 

The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position.  Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.

Minimum Required:

Current Wisconsin EMT license, with renewal as dictated by State of Wisconsin.Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA). Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license as verified through appropriate licensing agency. Must meet the driving requirements and criteria acceptable to MCHS's insurer. Add Emergency Vehicle Operations Certification (EVOC), Certified Emergency Vehicle Operator (CEVO), or Emergency Vehicle Driver Training (EVDT) within two years of hire.

   Preferred/Optional: Advanced EMT certification.

Availability and response times to calls have specific criteria.
