Emergency Medical Technician - Emergency Department (Springfield)

Inova Franconia Springfield Healthplex is looking for a dedicated Emergency Medical Technician to join the Emergency Department team. This role will be full time day shift; Monday – Friday, rotating weekends, 7am - 7pm.

The Emergency Medical Technician 2 provides accurate documentation of all procedures and therapies in patients' medical records and all specimens. Assists mid-level providers and physicians with collecting, labeling and transporting irretrievable specimens. Cleans and dresses wounds per physician orders and performs surgical preparation of wounds according to protocol and assists with application/removal of sutures. 

Emergency Medical Technician 2 Job Responsibilities:

Documents all required fields in medical records, computer entries and charges. Applies orthopedic splinting devices. Collects patient specimens following department/facility policies and procedures. Maintains inventory of equipment and supplies to optimize delivery of patient care and treatment. Assists with patient transport for testing, admission/discharge, interfacility and aeromedical (per policy of Operating Unit). Performs 12 lead ECG and places patients on continuous cardiac monitoring. Performs patient phlebotomy following department/facility policies and procedures. Provides wound care according to department clinical practice standards and acts as a resource to physicians and nurses to assist with optimum care. May perform additional duties as assigned.


Emergency Medical Technician Requirements:

Experience: 1 year of EMT-B experience Education: High School Diploma or GED Certification: BLS and EMT-B; must either be active on the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) or possess a current Virginia EMT License/Certification Training: Candidate must be able to attend six week training orientation upon hire. Special Skills: Able to read, write, speak and understand English. Computer skills.
