Bering Global Solutions, a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation is currently seeking a qualified Emergency Medical Technician Instructor at Joint Base San Antonio – Fort Sam Houston. This instructor shall provide relevant Course Instruction support in in classroom, laboratory or outdoor areas to enable the Emergency Medical Technician Units to react more quickly and efficiently to emergency situations and in prolonged hospital care.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Essential Duties and Responsibilities are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed for this position and are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job. Other duties may be assigned.

Provide standardized instruction and testing for US Air Force Medical Technicians at Fort Sam Houston, Texas.Conduct didactic and psychomotor training for basic EMT and primary care in various environments.Use appropriate training aids and maintain current lesson plans, study guides, and instructional materials.Apply up-to-date knowledge of medical subjects and EMT practices in the program of instruction.Employ effective training methods (lectures, demonstrations, discussions) to meet lesson objectives.Follow Student Evaluation and Administration Plan (SEAP) to ensure fair processes for students.Prepare student records, monitor performance, and provide academic counseling.Assist in developing and revising instructional programs, lesson plans, and training materials.Ensure all curriculum and training material are approved by the Air Force and relevant authorities.Secure classroom space, ensure equipment is operational, and announce upcoming classes.Train new instructors on curriculum development, instructional techniques, and effective training methods.Review and adhere to course schedules, objectives, and evaluation processes.Participate in refresher training to stay updated on evolving curriculum and training methodologies.Maintain and enforce standards of conduct, dress, and personal appearance as per Air Force regulations.Assign and conduct orientation and continuing education for new instructors.Subject to scheduled and unscheduled evaluations, maintaining satisfactory ratings on instructor evaluations. Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

Required (Minimum Necessary) Qualifications (applies to both this section and KSAO’s)

Graduate from the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) program is required. A minimum of an associate degree related to the teaching discipline awarded from an accredited institution that demonstrates sufficient justification to meet the CCAF teaching discipline requirement. Possess and maintain a national certification as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).Nationally Registered Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (NRAEMT), or Paramedic from the NREMTBasic Life Support certification through the American Red Cross. Possess no less than five years of EMS field experience as an EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic after certification.

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

Knowledge and skills of a first responder; and of pre-hospital care as it applies to the 4N0X1 (Air Force Medical Technician). Knowledge and skill of limited medications as they apply to limited primary care; of physical and emotional reactions to a variety of treatment procedures, medical evaluation, procedures and treatment, trauma scenario development. Ability to coordinate activities closely with others in stressful situations.Ability to effectively communicate verbal and written English.Ability to take direction and adapt to changing situations/job duties.

 

Preferred

Knowledge and skills as they pertain to Emergency Medical Technician Department of Transportation (DOT) curriculum and objectives, advanced trauma treatment using tenants of Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TC3)

This position is not subject to federal requirements regarding Department of Transportation “safety-sensitive” functions.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS

As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and have acceptable background check results. If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain the appropriate clearance levels required and be able to obtain access to military installations.
