Requirements:
graduated from an accredited school of nursing with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Or an Associate Degree of Nursing maybe considered, with appropriate experience in emergency room services.
Unrestricted RN license - Certification from a National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH)-Approved Spirometry Training Course is required within 6 months of placement.Previous experience in emergency nursing to include moderate sedation for procedures is required. 12 months active ER medicine for BSN, 2 years ADN.
American Heart Association or the American Red Cross Healthcare Provider (HCP) Certification BLS, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and a current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification. Part 1 NRP on-line computer-based certification and Part 2 hands-on portion (see 1.6.10. MTF Training for NRP required training).Job Duties Include but not limited to:
Emergency Services Registered Nurse shall assess patients, including the ability to assess/evaluate telephonically and possess ability to recognize adverse signs and symptoms and quickly react in emergency situations.Shall perform/assist with procedures such as endoscopic procedures, manometry, conscious sedation, prepping patient for procedures and recovering patients post procedure, bladder catheterizations, pulse oximetry, oxygen administration, EKGs, and other clinic specific procedures, in accordance with established protocols.Ensure proper documentation and coding of procedures and treatments. Shall only release medical information obtained during the course of this contract to other MTF staff involved in the care and treatment of that individual patient.Possess basic knowledge in management and daily operation of an emergency department servicing a large population of patients with a variety of healthcare needs and illnesses. ER nurse shall arrange for procedures and perform telephone follow-up, as appropriate. Shall ensure medication/supplies are replenished. Must possess basic knowledge of emergency procedures in order to react promptly and appropriately to provide effective care during emergency situations, respiratory or cardiac arrest.
