Emergency Preparedness Coordinator

GENERAL OVERVIEW:

Receives direction from the Director of Emergency and Trauma Services. Works as chair of the Emergency Operations and Preparedness Committee. Works cooperatively with staff and customers to accomplish team objectives and assigned work duties. Maintains effective working relationship with variety of staff. Coordinates and collaborates with external entities, including Facility Health System sites and regional partners, to achieve organizational and regional goals and objectives.  Ensures compliance with Joint Commission and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid (CMS) requirements for emergency preparedness.  Collaborates with the AHN Emergency Preparedness Forum and the PA Region 13 Coalition.                                                  

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Serves as an emergency management and business continuity liaison and resource in directing activities within portions of the emergency management and continuity programs in a customer focused environment.  (25%)Manages resource allocation, and facilitation of staff, teams, and committees involved with emergency management and business continuity-related projects.  (20%)Develops and facilitates implementation of creative ideas and suggestions to improve systems, processes and service; develops and implements new policies and procedures; develops and implements educational programs; evaluates established procedures and educational programs for effectiveness.  (20%)Identifies educational and training gaps within the hospital and provides educational opportunities for hospital staff and teams.  (15%)Develops, conducts, and facilitates emergency management and business continuity audits and emergency/disaster exercises. Analyzes and interprets data and participates in decisions regarding data validity and conclusions; effectively documents findings in an after action report and identifies appropriate improvement recommendations. Must maintain strict confidentiality of information.  (10%)Assists with the daily preparedness and business continuity of Forbes Hospital to help ensure a constant state of readiness. (5%)Acts as a representative for AHN and Forbes Hospital. (5%)

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

5 years’ experience in emergency management, risk management, business/clinical continuity management
