This position is responsible for facilitating and supporting projects related to emergency and disaster preparedness. This position is not responsible for providing care to patients.

Responsibilities Facilitates management of inventory of equipment and supplies.Obtains necessary equipment and manages the maintenance.Works with University of Utah Health Emergency Management leadership to identify weaknesses related to disaster preparedness.Assists with the processes required to complete the projects identified to correct weaknesses. Coordinates and works with personnel throughout the organization to complete the required tasks.Performs and assists with emergency preparedness and disaster related training to all levels of employees and staff.Assists with emergency preparedness drills and exercises.Participates in and assists with department meetings. Represents University of Utah Health in community emergency preparedness planning groups.Works with the University of Utah Health Emergency Management leadership to promote and integrate the organization’s emergency operations plan.Participates in incident response and communication efforts.Participates in on-call rotation.Monitors the process and outcomes of projects helping to ensure the project is on schedule.Provides administrative and logistical support.Documents issues, corrective actions, and follow-up.Assists in preparing proposals, reports and documents regarding project.May support quality improvement initiatives and projects.May perform basic project management functions.Knowledge / Skills / AbilitiesDemonstrated ability to perform the essential functions as outlined above.Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office.Demonstrated leadership, human relations and effective communication skills.Ability to collaborate with others.Demonstrated organizational skills.Ability to perform physically demanding tasks.Ability to see projects through from start to completion.Ability to educate and train others.Ability to function calmly and competently in high stress situations.Ability to be on-call. This position involves intermediate work that may exert up to 50 pounds regularly and may consistently require work involving lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling or otherwise moving objects involving patient and employee safety. The incumbent plays a critical role in preparing the organization in case of an emergency or wide-spread disaster and will be a key team member in the event of a disruption of patient care or business services, which may involve environmental hazards. The incumbent requires the ability to stand, move and walk for long periods of time in a variety of indoor and outdoor conditions including, but not limited to, hot, cold, rain and snow.
