Emergency Room Charge Nurse (RN) - Mercy Tiffin - Part Time Days

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Coordinating the delivery of patient care on a designated unit.  In collaboration with the Clinical Manager, coordinates implements and evaluates patient care to promote safe, efficient, cost-effective and therapeutic nursing care.  Assists in the provision of care to patients of all age groups.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

1. Education: Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.  Bachelor’s degree in nursing or health related field preferred.

2. Experience: Two years current hospital experience.

3. Knowledge and Abilities:

Demonstrates good leadership and communication skills, flexibility and creativity. Demonstrates knowledge and skill in nursing theory and practice of nursing process. Nurses assigned to a specialty unit will be required to meet criteria established for that unit.

4. Registration, Certification or Licensure Requirement:

Current Ohio Licensure; ACLS; Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (HCP) by the American Heart Association required. 

WORKING CONDITIONS

1. Exposure to biohazardous waste requires strict adherence to universal precautions.

2. Prolonged, extensive or considerable standing/walking.

3. Lifts, positions, pushes and/or transfers patients.

4. Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling and crouching.

5. May be exposed to physically verbally aggressive patients.

LEADERSHIP RESPONSBILITY:

1. Coordination of patient care and teaching through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.  Directs and guides activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing and the established policies and procedures of the hospital.  Assists in orientation of new personnel and assumes a leadership role as assigned.
