Dow has an exciting job opportunity as a Sr. Emergency Services and Security Technician (Shift Incident Commander) at BCO- Bristol-Croydon Operations Site. Bristol, PA.
In this role, you will share responsibility for the implementation of the emergency services and security (ES&S) management system in order to meet business objectives and to maintain the license to operate. You will provide hands-on emergency services and security activities for a specific plant. You will also be required to have full proficiency in a range of technical, operational, or analytical/scientific processes and procedures through job-related training and considerable on the job experience to perform a variety of work assignments. At times, you will act as an informal resource for team members with less experience.
Responsibilities / DutiesGeneral:
Applicants must be organized and have a good communication and interpersonal skills, be articulate and able to interact in a professional manner with others including company management, the community, and public officials.Applicants must have knowledge of computers and be able to use Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel in preparation of reports and other required documents and be able to use electronic mail. This is a twenty-four-hour rotating shift position that requires working in adverse weather conditions. The position requires working during holiday periods and be available for emergency “call back” situations. The individual is required to work independently and/or as a part of a team to perform assigned tasks and address and resolve issue related to assigned duties. Applicant must have general knowledge of industrial safety and related safety rules, procedures, and practices.Facility Protection:
Protection of the facility from fire or other hazards likely to cause property loss. Address fire protection impairments and restoration or maintenance, care, and up-keep of fire protection systems to include testing of sprinkler systems and operation of fixed fire pumps. Work also includes conducting periodic inspections and testing of fire protection and safety equipment in accordance with applicable codes and standards. The ES&S position is the primary contact for security officers across the entire site and must have the ability to de-escalate security matters and properly communicate with local authorities / Police Agencies.Emergency Response:
Actively participates in planning, education, training, and coordination of the facility Emergency Response Team, Dow Distribution Emergency Response, and other corporate community outreach initiatives. Response to situations that may include but are not limited to, investigation of alarms, response to medical emergencies, rescues, hazardous materials, and fire emergencies occurring at the facility and responding to mutual aid and transportation emergency response calls. Initiates reports of incidents and investigations, preparation of training report and records, participates in and conducts required training programs and exercises to improve response capability. Assists in development and maintenance of production unit pre-incident plans for target hazard operations and facility emergency plans. Must be proficient in the National Incident Command System and be able to assume any Position within the system.Serves as a shift Emergency Services Chief or Response Team Leader for response to both on and off-site emergencies. Serves as facility emergency response coordinator establishing unified command along with community responders until relieved by a senior responding Dow emergency response official.Other Duties:
Conducts designated fire and safety related training for employee work force. Conducts periodic behavior-based evaluations, loss prevention, and inspections of assigned ES&S areas of the facility. Follows-up to assure compliance. Serves as the initial out of hours point of contact for facility community issues and handles related matters as necessary. Serves as initial out of hours safety consultant in support of operating production units for safe work permits and related safety issues. perform additional duties as assigned by immediate supervisor. Responds to and documents injury and illness occurring at the Bristol facility. Conducts site tours daily for security, safety and environmental compliance checks for all operating areas. Required QualificationsHigh School Diploma, GED or equivalentA minimum of 6 years’ experience with an emergency response organization (fire, emergency medical service, or industrial safety / emergency services). Must possess current certification as an PA or National Registry EMT, FireFighter II, Hazardous Material Operations, Rope Rescue, Confined Space Rescue, EVOC, and NIMS 100, 200, 700, and 800.Must have a valid driver’s license for the state in which the candidate resides.Must already possess or obtain a Commercial Driver’s License within first year of hireMust possess or be able to obtain a US passport and TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credentials) within 6 months of hire.A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
Preferred Qualifications
3 years’ experience in municipal fire inspection, industrial safety, or related field.IFSAC / ProBoard Driver-Operator, Fire Officer 1, Hazmat Technician, Hazmat IC, Incident Safety Officer, NIMS 300 and 400. Have knowledge of the UCC (Uniform Construction Code), OSHA 1910 standards, and NFPA standards. Certification as emergency services instructor in fire, EMS, hazmat and have demonstrated ability to conduct training and speak publicly in front of groups.Your Skills

Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.Must be comfortable with moving, climbing, walking, and twisting consistent with a large variety of positions utilized to operate equipment and work on the ground and sedentary type work from a computer workstation. Candidate must be clean shavenMust be able to wear self-contained breathing apparatusPhysically & mentally able to work in stressful environments including, but not limited to: confined spaces, low visibility, fully encapsulated PPE, and extreme close proximity to others.
Ability to work comfortably and safely at elevated heights. Candidates must be familiar with, or willing to undergo training in, the proper usage and maintenance of safety equipment to ensure safe movement and operations at heights.
