The Emergency Department Assistant functions within his/her scope of practice under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse to assist in providing care and implementing delegated activities of the nursing plan. S/he demonstrates an understanding of basic nursing skills and utilizes specialized knowledge, skills and techniques in Emergency care to perform and assist in performance of patient care in the Emergency Department.
S/he assumes delegated responsibilities which may include but are not limited to such tasks as: meeting the hygienic, elimination, comfort and safety needs of patients; obtains and records/reports vital signs, applies both metal and plaster splints, access and records on the patient's medical record, transports patients, specimens, etc., assists in physically lifting patient, restraining confused/combative patients, performs phlebotomy procedures and point of care testing.
The Emergency Department Assistant individualizes patient care using age related concepts based on the unit population assigned for neonates (0-1 month), infants (1 month to age 1), toddlers (1-2 years), preschoolers (3-5 years), school aged (6-12 years), adolescents (ages 13-17) and adult patients including early adult (ages 18-35), middle adult (ages 36-65) and older adult (ages 66+) by applying age related concepts....including knowledge of growth and development, safety needs, collection of data, treatments and care typically required. Utilizes age related concepts when communicating with patients and families, maintaining a safe environment and using medical equipment and supplies.

28 hours per week, 8 hour Evening shift, Part-time 32 hours per week, 8 hour Evening shift, Part-timeRequired Qualifications:
Required within 6 months (180 days) of hire Washington Medical Assistant Phlebotomist Certification.Preferred Qualifications:
