Aspirus is seeking an Emergency Transport Communication Coordinator in Wausau, WI to work in our Medevac Department.

Responsible to receive, coordinate and provide timely notification of emergent and non-emergent medical transport requests (rotor, fixed wing, ground) within Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The Communication Coordinator is responsible for accurately documenting all transport vehicle activity and times within the CAD system. In addition, the Communication Coordinator is also responsible for following the aircraft and ambulances by means of satellite tracking devices and initiating emergency action plans in the event of an incident/accident. May also prepare and provide price quotes for non-emergent air or ground medical transport and coordinate all aspects of those transports. The Communication Coordinator may also be asked to assist with Physician Connect transfer center requests and ensure that patient transfers are facilitated within a timely manner. It is imperative that the Communication Coordinator maintain positive professional relationship with customers, health care facilities, EMS, and other air medical transport providers. Individuals must be organized, adept at multi-tasking, have excellent communication skills.

Hours: Full Time or .9 FTE, 72 hours every 2 weeks. Varied shifts.

Experience/Qualifications

Previous experience in use of multiline telephones, radios, dispatching equipment, or information systems experience beneficial. Experience in dispatching aircraft, ambulances, police, and/or fire and previous patient-care ambulance experience desired. Experience as Emergency Medical Dispatcher, First Responder, or EMT beneficial Emergency Medical Dispatcher (EMD) within one year of hire IAMTCS – Certified Flight Communicator (CFC) certification with one year of hire and maintain certification. Wisconsin Emergency Medical Technician-Basic - desired Possesses an excellent working knowledge of computer operations and typing skills. Must possess excellent customer service skills and have ability to function calmly in high pressure situations, think clearly and logically, and make problem solving decisions based on information. Ability to communicate verbally, effectively, and clearly in person and by phone. Possesses ability to function under pressure and establish priorities.
