Aspirus is seeking an Emergency Transport Communication Specialist in Wausau, WI to work in our MedEvac department.
Responsible to receive, coordinate and provide timely notification of emergent and non-emergent medical transport requests (rotor, fixed wing, ground) within Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The Communication Coordinator is responsible for accurately documenting all transport vehicle activity and times within the CAD system. In addition, the Communication Coordinator is also responsible for following the aircraft and ambulances by means of satellite tracking devices and initiating emergency action plans in the event of an incident/accident. May also prepare and provide price quotes for non-emergent air or ground medical transport and coordinate all aspects of those transports. The Communication Coordinator may also be asked to assist with Physician Connect transfer center requests and ensure that patient transfers are facilitated within a timely manner. It is imperative that the Communication Coordinator maintain positive professional relationship with customers, health care facilities, EMS, and other air medical transport providers. Individuals must be organized, adept at multi-tasking, have excellent communication skills.
Hours: Full Time or 0.9 FTE, 72 hours every 2 weeks. Scheduled rotations. 12-hr overnight shifts, 6p-6a.
Experience/Qualifications
Previous experience in use of multiline telephones, radios, dispatching equipment, or information systems experience beneficial.Experience in dispatching aircraft, ambulances, police, and/or fire and previous patient-care ambulance experience desired. Experience as Emergency Medical Dispatcher, First Responder, or EMT beneficialEmergency Medical Dispatcher (EMD) within one year of hireIAMTCS – Certified Flight Communicator (CFC) certification with one year of hire and maintain certification.Wisconsin Emergency Medical Technician-Basic - desiredPossesses an excellent working knowledge of computer operations and typing skills.Must possess excellent customer service skills and have ability to function calmly in high pressure situations, think clearly and logically, and make problem solving decisions based on information.Ability to communicate verbally, effectively, and clearly in person and by phone.Possesses ability to function under pressure and establish priorities.Employee Benefits

Aspirus MedEvac medical transportation service provides 24-hour emergency air and ground medical transport for critically ill and injured individuals of North Central Wisconsin and Upper Michigan. We are dedicated to providing the highest standard of care and safety to our patients. Aspirus MedEvac operates critical care ground transfer ambulances from Wisconsin ground bases in Weston, Mosinee, Wisconsin Rapids, Medford, Plover, Portage, Rhinelander, Eagle River, Woodruff and Upper Michigan bases in Ontonagon, Iron River and Crystal Falls. In addition to the Critical care Ground Transports, Aspirus MedEvac also provides 911 coverage for Iron County MI, Lincoln County WI, Oneida County WI, Taylor County WI, Vilas County WI, and Watersmeet MI. The ground units are staffed with Critical Care Paramedics, Registered Nurses and EMTs. MedEvac air is staffed with a pilot, a Flight Nurse and a Flight Paramedic and is capable of transporting one patient.
