Emergency Veterinarian - Ethos ER Immerse Mentorship Program - Bowie, MD Dogs and Cats Emergency & Specialty

Dogs and Cats Emergency & Specialty (DCES) is seeking veterinarians passionate about working in emergency medicine for our 6-month training and mentorship program. We are looking for individuals who are team oriented, driven, reflective, and reliable to train with us and transition into an ER position at our hospital.

About us

At DCES, we cultivate an atmosphere of continuous learning, diversity, unity, and growth. Our culture is built on four foundational values: Compassion, Collaboration, Education, and Integrity. We strive to infuse these values into every aspect of our work, from our daily interactions with clients to the programs and initiatives we implement. We take pride in being a teaching hospital and fostering the next generation of veterinary professionals.

What sets us apart is our unique multi-departmental structure. We house seven specialty departments under one roof: Neurology, Oncology, Ophthalmology, Radiology, Surgery, Internal Medicine, and ER/ICU. This structure facilitates exceptional cross-collaboration and learning, allowing for daily morning huddles with experts from different fields to make informed, comprehensive medical decisions for our patients. Instead of having to call a specialist for advice, you can simply walk down the hallway.

The Ethos ER Immerse Training Program

The ER Immerse Program will prepare veterinarians for a sustainable and satisfying career in emergency medicine. Built from the ground up to be different than traditional rotating internship programs, the ERi program has been developed around a curriculum of core competencies essential for an emergency veterinarian. In addition to providing training around clinical knowledge and skills, the program also includes a focus on client and team member communication, professional skills, and life/work integration.

The ER Immerse program utilizes a hybrid training approach incorporating simulation-based didactic components into authentic training experiences with live patients. The curriculum is designed using an evidence-based strategy identifying competencies and skills deemed essential for a successful career as an emergency clinician.
