Emergency Veterinary Technician
**Location:** 9706 Mockingbird Drive, Omaha, NE, 68127 VCA Midwest Veterinary Referral & Emergency Center in Omaha, NE is growing its Day Emergency & Critical Care Service and seeking a **Licensed** **Veterinary Technician** to join their day team. **Schedule:** Full-time opportunities, with flexible scheduling. **Day Shift** , 3 x 12 hours. **Who We Are:** VCA Midwest Veterinary Referral & Emergency Center is a well-established, state-of-the-art facility, providing comprehensive medical care to our beloved pets. Our Emergency and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) mirrors what one would find at a human medical center. By incorporating advanced techniques derived from veterinary and human medicine, we can ensure that our patients are being treated in the best possible way. Our Emergency and Critical Care Technicians thrive in a fast-paced service, handle critical case, and enjoy the stimulating caseload. Our Technicians have the opportunity to sharpen and advance their technical skills every day.  **Key Responsibilities:** **Triage:** Perform an initial assessment to evaluate the patient's condition quickly. This includes checking vital signs, assessing for obvious injuries or distress, and gathering information from the pet owner about the situation. **Assist Doctors:** Collaborate closely with veterinarians to assist in exams, treatments, and medical procedures for emergency cases. **Venipuncture and IVC Placement:** Proficiently perform venipuncture, intravenous catheter placement, and grow your advanced vascular access techniques **Medication Administration:** Safely and accurately administer fluids, medications, and other treatments as prescribed by veterinarians. **Team Collaboration:** Work in conjunction with all technical staff across the hospital to ensure hospitalized patients receive optimal care. Maintain open communication with the healthcare team. **Nursing Care in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU):** Vigilantly monitor hospitalized patients, identifying subtle changes in their clinical status.
