RESPONSIBILITIES:\n\nReport directly to the Electronics and Electrical Section Manager as part of a group of 45 other Electronics and Electrical Engineers.\nWork with other EMI\/EMC engineers in support of the Avionics Division on-site at NASA Johnson Space Center.\nSupport EMI\/EMC testing performed on-site and off-site at EMI\/EMC test chambers on various space-flight electronic hardware systems.\nWork with the NASA E3 Engineer, major contractors, and sub-contractors, both domestic and foreign, within their engineering disciplines for hardware E3 designing.\nSupport E3 test projects by developing Test Requirements, Test Plans and Test Procedures.\nWitness E3 testing, providing real-time data analysis, troubleshooting, reduce the test data, and providing a Quick Test Report prior to writing the final test report.\nPrepare update briefings to management on any significant tests that are performed in the EMI facility.\nSupport Preliminary Design Reviews, and Critical Design Reviews; EMC analyses (analytical and numerical), E3 Test Readiness Reviews and witness E3 tests.\nSupport design engineers with consultation and review of electronic circuitry, bonding, grounding and cable designs for EMC compliance.\nSupport projects in new modeling and simulation techniques for designing and testing hardware.\nSupport design engineers in bench top lab EMI assessments\/Engineering Evaluations.\nDevelop correlation equations to estimate pass\/fail criteria in onsite EMI chambers.\nBe able to look at programs from a system perspective with respect to EMC\/EMI areas early in a project. This may include Risk Analysis and recommendations for design changes.\nWhile working in a laboratory environment, following standard operating procedures and following safety protocols established by the test facility.\nPerform other duties, as required, including multiple discipline (Avionics, Power Quality, RF Tx\/RX Systems, Mechanical\/Structural, Environments, etc.) meetings; attend weekly in-office status meetings, as well as online TEAMS meetings with NASA, primary Contractor, and sub-contractors.\n\n

\n\nThis position requires US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status due to the sensitivity of customer related information.\nRequires a bachelor's degree in engineering.\nMust have 2+ years of recent and related experience.\nSound experience with space, military or commercial EMI\/EMC design, test planning, execution and mitigation.\nSound knowledge of and experience in EMI\/EMC compliance design and testing per MIL-STD-461 standards for system level and sub-system (box) level electrical\/electronic systems.\nGeneral knowledge of and basic hands-on experience with of all associated EMI\/EMC laboratory test equipment including Spectrum Analyzers, Radiofrequency (RF) Amplifiers, Signal Generators, EMI Receivers, Antennas, Directional Couplers, and Power Meters.\nUnderstanding of and ability to specify electronic system test hardware such as oscilloscopes, multi-meters, logic analyzers, function generators, electronic load banks, power supplies, power analyzers, network components etc.\u200b\n\n

DESIRED:\n\nBasic understanding of RF design, circuit theory, and electromagnetic principle including component and cable shielding, filters, magnetics, microwaves and antennas.\nUnderstanding of the five key areas which comprise most electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) problems: radiated emissions, electrostatic discharge (ESD), susceptibility to RF fields, power disturbances and internal crosstalk.\nExperience reviewing schematics, PCB layouts, and mechanical designs for applying electromagnetic design mitigation.\nExperience with Satellite Space Systems or Spacecraft Vehicle design and test.\nAbility to create test plans and write test reports per customer requirements.\niNARTE EMC\/EMI engineer certification.\nExperience with filtering, bonding, grounding, and shielding methods for EMI\/EMC performance and compliance.\nExperience with analysis tools such as SPICE, Matlab and Simulink, Mathcad, LabVIEW, and other EMI\/EMC simulation and analysis tools.\nExperience with generating EMI\/EMC Control and Verification Plan.\nPrevious experience with NASA spaceflight project development in terms of Space Station Electromagnetic Emission and Susceptibility Requirements.\nExperience in MIL-STD analysis of EMI testing results of Radiated and Conducted emissions and susceptibility.\nExperience in EMI test setups including required support equipment with the knowledge of chamber test Antennas, test electronic equipment and bonding\/grounding setups.\nExperience in charging analysis of corona effects, and plasma effects; including, lightning protection, and bonding and grounding techniques.\n\n

WORK LOCATION: \n\nThis position is located onsite.\nThis position offers a 9\/80 schedule, every other Friday off. \nThis position may require some travel\n\n
