Employee Dining Room Supervisor - Glacier Bay Lodge
**Job Description** We are seeking a skilled and organized Employee Dining Room (EDR) Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of the dining facility that provides meals for approximately 60 staff members in a remote national park setting. The EDR Supervisor is responsible for managing food service, maintaining cleanliness and organization, and ensuring a positive dining experience for employees. This role requires strong leadership skills, adaptability, and a passion for creating a welcoming environment for our team. **About Glacier Bay Lodge & Glacier Bay National Park & Preserve:** ? Job specific Environmental Aspects and Impacts will be communicated by Dept. Managers during EMS training. **Job Responsibilities** **1. Dining Room Operations** Supervise the daily setup, service, and cleanup of the Employee Dining Room. Ensure that food is served on time, at the appropriate temperature, and in an appealing manner. Monitor food inventory levels, coordinating with managers in placing orders or communicating needs to the kitchen team. Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary dining environment, including tables, serving stations, and dishwashing areas. **2. Team Leadership** Lead and supervise EDR staff, including scheduling, training, and performance feedback. Collaborate with the kitchen team to coordinate meal service and resolve any service issues. Foster a positive work environment and promote teamwork among staff. **3. Employee Satisfaction** Respond to staff feedback about meal quality, variety, and dietary needs, and communicate these concerns to the kitchen team. Ensure meals accommodate dietary restrictions, allergies, and preferences when possible. Act as a liaison between employees and the food service team to ensure a high level of satisfaction. **4. Compliance and Safety** Adhere to and enforce food safety and sanitation regulations. Monitor equipment functionality and report maintenance needs promptly. Ensure compliance with all health and safety guidelines, including proper handling of food and cleaning supplies. **5. Administrative Duties** Maintain records of meal counts, inventory, and employee feedback. Assist in budget management by monitoring waste and ensuring efficient use of resources. Participate in planning and implementing improvements to the EDR program. **Qualifications** ? Previous supervisor experience in a related role preferred ? Experience as a cook or related role required ? Ability to work independently with limited supervision required ? Proven knowledge of the basic principles of food preparation, various cooking methods, and food safety regulations such as proper food handling, sanitation, and storage ? Food safety certification required ? Demonstrates basic math and counting skills ? Demonstrates effective interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing.
