Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Employee Health Clinician (37.5)- Full Time, Days (8AM-4PM varied) - Occupational Health Services -.

In this role, the successful candidate Nurse practitioners (NP) are dedicated to providing quality, professional, cost-effective health care to all patients at Long Island Community Hospital.
At LICH, NPs provide services as a licensed independent practitioner (LIP) collaborating with a licensed physician fulfilling a broad range of medical services that would otherwise be provided by the physician. A NP shall be permitted to provide any service within his/her scope of training/skills outlined in the collaborative agreement between the NP and the collaborating physician that has been approved by the Credentials Committee. NPs may provide care for all patients throughout the hospital as permitted by their certification and licensure. NPs work collaboratively with the patient's physicians, assisting in providing high-quality care, and a well-planned, timely discharge. NPs provide patient-centered care as members of interdisciplinary teams emphasizing evidence-based practice and accepted standards of care. A NP shall document according to the practices included in the Clinical Documentation Initiative (CDI). NPs with Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) documentation working in surgery have the primary responsibility of assisting in surgery. A NP working in surgery must have a collaborative agreement with a surgeon. A NP working in surgery will also perform surgical functions in other areas of the hospital as needed by the surgeons or the Chief PA. A NP on the Trauma Team must have privileges to first assist in surgery, experience in emergency medicine, and current Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) documentation, or acquire it within six months. A NP on the Trauma Team may be required to be on-call.

Job Responsibilities:

Assessment and Reassessment of Patients

Introduces/identifies self as a nurse practitioner                                              Communicates professionally and effectively with the patient's physician. Performs initial and ongoing assessment/history and physical examination Assesses/reassesses patient's condition and care plan Orders and interprets tests/results(lab, radiology, ekg, etc.) based on patient need Orders medications and treatments Documents care in the chart in accordance with hospital policies and procedures Manages patient care including emergencies requiring BLS/ACLS/PALS (if adult or family NP) Documents in patient chart or the computer all pertinent patient information following departmental and hospital policies, and using the CDI education. Writes legibly Dates, times, and signs all chart entries Documents results of tests ordered, or disposition of care Completes all procedure notes Documents communication with physicians Signs, dates, times verbal/telephone orders by the end of each shift various occupational medicine programs in accordance with all Hospital and regulatory guidelines Clinical responsibility for medical services including follow-up, tracking and aggregate reporting Evaluating, diagnosing and treating medical center employees/patients that present to Occupational Health

Technical Procedures

Explains procedure to patient Uses sterile technique, including barrier precautions, when needed Performs procedures such as venipuncture, Intramuscular vaccinations, subcutaneous injections, etc.  First aid Splints

Abides by all federal and state laws, rules, and regulations Answers pages and calls immediately(unless busy) using name, title, and greeting Participates in performance assessment and improvement studies Ability to present at educational sessions annually to adult patient populations Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care, based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and related criteria, appropriate to the employee/patients who present in OHS Participates in the departments performance improvement activities Observes the Health Care Systems compliance policies  Proactively demonstrates responsibility and accountability for the timely and complete management, report, and tracking of clinical results  Promptly advises supervising physician of any issues arising in the treatment of patients and/or gathering, recording and dispersal of required medical documentation Maintains patient/employee confidentiality in the management of information

 

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Graduate of NP educational program approved by the State of New York
Current NP certification from either the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners or the American Nurses Credentialing Center
Bachelors and Masters degrees
Current New York State license as registered nurse and NP
Current Basic Life Support (BLS)
Current Advanced Life Support (ACLS)
Current Pediatric Life Support (PALS)
Current Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS)
Current National Institute of Health stroke scale(NIHSS) training certification
Current New York State prescription privilege
Current DEA number
Current New York State Infection Control training certification
Completed Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter (PICC) on-line training
Current certification by American Vascular Association (AVA)
Current member of American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP)
Current member of Nurse Practitioner Association of New York State (NPA)
Requires the psychomotor skills, including walking and use of hands, to perform examinations and procedures.
The interpersonal and customer service skills necessary to communicate effectively with patients, their family members, physicians, nursing, and other Hospital personnel when exchanging patient status, care, and treatment information.
Requires the ability to recognize and address the psychosocial needs of patients and their families, and the ability and skills necessary to attend to special needs relating to the patient's age and diagnosis.
The ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail for approximately seventy-five percent of work time for responsibilities such as providing patient care, operating and monitoring equipment, and recording data in patient charts.
The ability to walk and stand for approximately seventy-five percent of work time, and to lift, pull, push, and/or carry items such as equipment weighing up to twenty pounds or patients on stretchers for approximately twenty-five percent of work time when providing patient care.
Basic computer skills in email, scanning, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel..

Required Licenses: Registered Nurse License-NYS, Nurse Practitioner-NYS

The salary range for the role is $79,310.00 - $134,157.50 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
