Description
The Employee Relations Manager assists with developing, implementing, and administrating employee relations programs and policies. This role ensures that employee relations strategies align with organizational goals and legal requirements while fostering a positive work environment. The Employee Relations Manager also provides guidance, support, and expertise to employees, supervisors, and managers in interpreting policies and resolving employee relations issues. This position requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, with 5-8 years in a related field. Supervisory experience is preferred.
**Essential Functions:**
+ Consultation and Guidance: Serve as a key advisor to employees, supervisors, and managers, providing advice on policy interpretation, dispute resolution, and employee relations matters.
+ Issue Resolution: Address employee grievances, conduct thorough investigations as needed, and ensure consistent application of company policies in resolving issues.
+ Policy Management and Implementation: Assist schools/colleges, departments, and divisions with policy development and implementation, ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Assist the director of policy and employee education with institution-wide policy development and implementation.
+ Compliance: Ensure adherence to legal requirements and company standards related to employee relations policies, including anti-discrimination, anti-harassment, and conflict-of-interest guidelines.
+ Employee Development: Provide training and guidance on employee relations topics to managers and supervisors, fostering a culture of effective management and professional growth. Assist the policy and employee education director with developing and implementing the employee learning management system and employee education.
**Major Job Duties:**
Guidance and Advisory Support:
+ Provide advice, counsel, and support to employees, supervisors, and managers in resolving workplace issues, promoting open communication, and fostering a positive work environment.
+ Guide managers in addressing and managing performance issues, disciplinary actions, and terminations in a fair and consistent manner.
Conflict Resolution and Investigation:
+ Conduct investigations into employee complaints and grievances, document findings, and ensure fair resolution.
+ Facilitate conflict resolution strategies, including mediation, when appropriate, to maintain a productive work environment.
Employee Relations Initiatives:
+ Design and implement employee engagement programs that support a positive workplace culture and improve employee satisfaction.
+ Monitor and analyze employee relations trends and propose changes to enhance organizational culture and address emerging issues.
Policy Development and Maintenance
+ Develop, review, and revise policies to align with industry best practices and legal standards.
+ Communicate updates to policies effectively across the organization, ensuring understanding and compliance.
+ Support the director of policy and employee education with policy development and implementation.
Compliance and Risk Management:
+ Ensure policies and practices comply with federal, state, and local laws, as well as company policies.
+ Maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive employee information in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
+ Assist the director of policy and employee education with compliance management and compliance training.
Training and Development:
+ Develop and facilitate training sessions for managers and employees on conflict resolution, policy interpretation, and legal compliance.
+ Assist the director of policy and employee education with compliance education monitoring.
+ Promote a culture of accountability, transparency, and fairness within the organization.
Requirements
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
+ 5-8 years of related experience in employee relations, HR, or similar functions.
+ Supervisory experience is preferred.
+ SHRM or ATIXA certifications preferred

+ Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong ability to analyze employee issues, conduct thorough investigations, and propose fair and equitable solutions.
+ Knowledge of Employment Law: Understanding federal, state, and local employment regulations, with the ability to apply this knowledge to various employee relations scenarios.
+ Conflict Resolution: Proficient in handling conflict resolution, mediation, and investigation processes.
+ Ethical Judgment and Confidentiality: High integrity and ability to manage sensitive situations with discretion and confidentiality.
+ Time Management and Organization: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple cases and projects, prioritizing tasks efficiently.
+ Supervisory Skills (Preferred): Experience in leading a team or managing others, with the ability to provide guidance and mentorship to direct reports.
