Employee Relations Specialist

The primary purpose of this role is to conduct activities across the organization related to policy adherence, investigations, and risk mitigation. The Employee Relations Specialist is responsible for providing early intervention and support to help mitigate employee relations issues. This includes a broad range of activities such as complaint investigations, policy interpretation and the preparation of related summary reports and recommendations. The position interacts with various subject matter experts, employees, people leaders, and occasionally external stakeholders.  Ultimately the Employee Relations Specialist will help ensure a positive and productive work environment that supports the Company’s Mission and Values. This position will require working in Pacific time zone.

 

Essential Functions:

Provide counsel to managers and employees in understanding and applying people tools, policies and procedures in order to maximize employee performance, achieve organizational effectiveness, improve employee engagement, and ensure legal compliance.  Provide Field Managers timely guidance and support on employee relations situations including Reportable Issues, Ethics Point and HR-related employee/manager queries.  Follow defined policies and procedures and ensure employment matters are handled consistently. Supports HR Business Partners and ER Managers as needed with data and information to assist in workforce planning and people-related concerns. Collaborate with key stakeholders to help develop proactive long-term interventions to address issues, and recommend systematic improvements and appropriate tech solutions. Deliver effective case management of employee relations issues, high risk disciplinary actions, legal issues, policy interpretation/application and investigations to ensure consistent compliance and risk management practices for assigned business segment; engage appropriate centers of excellence (COE) partners and Legal as appropriate. Conduct investigations using effective interviewing techniques, knowledge of the relevant legislation and regulations, and organizational policies to determine appropriate resolutions; document findings and recommend corrective or disciplinary actions.  Consult with partners and stakeholders in the areas of employment law and Human Resources issues, policies, programs, and processes; influence policy and decision making based upon Employee Relations best practices and observed trends. Assist in the development, implementation and administration of Human Resources programs, policies and procedures in alignment with employment law. Log and track investigations in ServiceNow and EthicsPoint systems, resolving issues in a timely manner.  Create and deliver presentations on HR topics or new initiatives to all level of management as needed. Complete ad-hoc projects, reporting and tasks working with cross-functional HR teams.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

The position does not have direct reports.

 

Minimum Job Qualifications:

BA/BS Degree in Human Resources or comparable field. Functional knowledge of employment related state and federal regulations 1+ years of HR experience that includes experience handling employee related issues

 

Other Skills and Abilities Qualifications:

Working knowledge of employment law, including current state and local regulations.  Excellent customer service skills with both internal and external customers. Proficiency with technology and reporting; advanced computer skills with high proficiency in MS Office Suite. Capable of working with frequent interruptions and changing priorities. Effective communication skills, written, verbal and interpersonal. Proficient time management, organizational skills and ability to meet established deadlines. Ability to use reason and de-escalation skills to manage difficult or emotional situations. Ability to build business partnerships, as well as drive initiatives and offer guidance in defusing difficult situations. High degree of integrity, confidentiality and discretion at all times. Proficient time management, organizational skills and ability to meet established deadlines Demonstrated initiative role out projects and initiatives. Ability to work with confidential information.

 

Compensation and Benefits:

Compensation based on position, education and experience. Bi-weekly paid.  $65-74,000 annually. This position is also eligible for our Support Central bonus program which is based on annual achievement of company performance.
