Summary This position for The Defense Information Systems Agency is at Fort Meade, Maryland . Responsibilities Assist employees who are blind or have low visual acuity. This includes orientation and mobility support, and use of accessibility software applications. Assists and guides serviced employees in navigating and editing electronic documents and computer applications that are not accessible. Provides sighted-guide assistance and reader support to serviced employees for meetings, conferences, and events hosted onsite and offsite. Stays abreast of new and evolving industry, government, and agency procedures, standards, methodologies, technologies, and tools to prove satisfactory assistance to serviced employees. Provide administrative support to program managers as needed. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Time in Grade: For entry at the GS-05 level, status applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-04 or higher grade in the Federal Service. Basic Requirement: A minimum typing proficiency of 40 WPM is required. In addition to meeting the basic requirement, qualified applicants must possess: Specialized Experience: For the GS-05, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable in difficulty and responsibility to GS-04 if outside the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as performing administrative support functions for one or more employees to include general office support duties, utilizing software applications, and preparing, editing and formatting documents; and providing support services such as clerical and reader services to personnel with disabilities on a reasonable accommodation. In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirements, qualified applicants must also possess the quality of experience as it relates to how closely or to what extent an applicant's background, recency of experience, education, and training are relevant to the duties and responsibilities of the announced position. Candidates must clearly demonstrate the possession of competencies necessary to successfully perform the work of the position at the appropriate level to be qualified for the position. Education Substitution of Education for Experience: Four years of successfully completed education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation, or the equivalent, is a prerequisite may be substituted to meet the specialized experience required. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. To be creditable, education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university.
