Position Summary:

The Employment Coach helps disadvantaged persons who desire to attain living-wage employment by providing them with person-centered employment-related support services. Those services may include (but are not limited to) any of the following: vocational assessments, educational assessments, employment goals setting, work readiness skills training (workplace expectations, and soft skills that include attitudes/enthusiasm, ethics, communications, problem-solving, teamwork, and professionalism), resume writing, and assistance with on-line job searches and applications. The Employment Coach also helps clients assess their barriers to employment, such as lack of work-related credentials and/or high school diploma, childcare, transportation, stable housing, legal problems, mental health, or substance use issues, and works with other East End staff and partner agencies to resolve issues and remove barriers to successful employment. In many cases the Employment Coach sets up accounts with Ohio Means Jobs and refers clients to the Montgomery County Workforce Development. In other cases, the Employment Coach matches clients directly with employers, based on relationships and communications developed by the Employment Coach with selected employers. The Employment Coach is responsible for documenting meetings with clients and reporting regularly on progress made by clients, and the key outcomes attained.

Essential Job Functions:

Meet all jobseekers ‘where they are’ and support them until they advance to self-sufficiency.

Collaborate with other team members at East End and with partner agencies as needed to assure the best possible outcomes for clients.

Achieve expected outcomes of funding contracts.

Maintain a working knowledge of high demand, well-paying jobs in Montgomery and surrounding counties

Maintain a working knowledge of workforce training (credential) opportunities available at East End (forklift), Sinclair CC, and Montgomery County that could be accessed by clients.

Maintain records of activities and results achieved and complete monthly, mid-year and annual reports as needed.

Develops and maintains a working knowledge of education and job training opportunities within the community, and matches such resources to participant needs and goal plans;

Develops and maintains a working knowledge of other social services provided by WestCare, as well as other support services available in the community;

Maintains current sites where program participants may be placed in work experiences, and develops additional sites as necessary;

Tracks initial employment, and monitors for 30-day, 90 day (about 3 months) and 180-day placements;

Teaches a workforce soft-skills curriculum including job readiness, job searches, resume writing, and other skills to groups of program participants;

Coaching clients to remain in the program and achieve success, while providing wrap-around support services when barriers are encountered;

Developing a working knowledge of education and job training opportunities in the community, and facilitating matches with clients' needs and goal plans;

Delivers life skills education (parenting, budgeting, etc.) to program participants, using a pre-determined curriculum;

Completes all required paperwork in an accurate and timely manner to ensure participant activities are documented;

Enter accurate and timely data in designated database, as required;

Proficient in MS Office, Outlook, Google Docs, etc.
