 S:US is seeking an Employment Director for their homeless shelter programs.

 

 This position is located at 463 7th Avenue  New York, NY 10018

 

     

SCOPE OF THE ROLE: 

The Employment Director will manage the programs’ delivery of all employment placement and income support services related to participant families’ job placement, training and career goals.  The Director monitors the progress and achievement of program performance targets and outcomes with senior leadership. They will ensure that the staff deliver high-quality daily employment services, and that their team plays an active role in the support of participants’ Employment and Housing Stability Plan (HSP) goals. The Director establishes and maintains key partnerships with stakeholders across the S:US service area.  The Employment Director will develop the best practices for employment service delivery and coordinate S:US employment services across our full portfolio of Homeless Programs, leveraging resources and expertise from across the agency to support the income and employment goals of the people we serve.

       

 

KEY RESPONSABILITIES

Lead the staff in daily operations and coordination of core employment services.Supervise the Employment Manager and assign Employment and Vocational Services staff.Establish policies, procedures and best practices in service delivery/resource maximization for S:US Homeless program in NYC, and across all employment services with the division. Develop a dynamic network of workforce, DOL, and community resources.Maintain a strong working relationship with colleagues and program managers to support the needs of the staff and the people we serve.Adapt and improve service models to be responsive to a changing environment and individualized needs/goals of the veteran families we serve.Manage special projects and foundation-funded employment services. Complete timely submission of reports, inquiries, responses to internal and external stakeholders.Regularly drives program improvement and supports all compliance/audit preparation activities, accreditation processes and ongoing QA efforts with agency leadership. Ensure that program complies with the rules and regulations of licensing and funding agencies, and in accordance with organizational policies and procedures. Monitor program employment and training records regularly for accuracy, timeliness and completeness. Document all services in compliance with agency and funder standards.Respond to stakeholder needs promptly, accurately and with courtesy and respect. Models appropriate behavior.  Represents the organization in a positive and appropriate manner to outside resources.Support the mission and values of S:US, using best practices for ongoing quality improvement of the programsParticipate in and lead ongoing individual supervision, staff development, team meetings, case conferences, division meetings and trainings.Maintain confidentiality of participants and staff. Participate in and monitors the recruitment/hiring of staff and talent development.Provide program and professional supervision, coordinate team meetings and trainings, assist with the monitoring of program outcomes (e.g., participant plans, outcomes, data reports, and other restrictions/requirements as issued in the grant award), and promote team-based collaborative planning and participant engagement.Complete bi-weekly payroll approvals for direct reports.Direct workflow and workload assignments. Apply time management skills to work effectively within given deadlines. Manage program implementation efforts across the full S:US service region in NYC. Uphold accountability and operation within established budget. Remain current and updated on new regulations, policies, industry trends, and best practices.Collaborates with the team on training and program specific orientation for new hires and program staff. Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s Degree Required, Master’s Preferred.Minimum of 6 years of professional experience, including at least 4 years of managerial experience in a professional functionExperience in employment programs a must.Effective written and oral communication skills.

Leadership capability to manage, coach, and develop program staff and managersAbility to contribute to and implement work systems for the efficient running of an operation.Qualified applicants will be comfortable leading a team in a changing environment, as service models and payment models will likely transition.Qualified applicants will be forward thinking, collaborative and strategic in their planning and program management.Qualified applicants will be innovative in developing and/or improving program design and service delivery.Qualified applicants will have a demonstrated ability to develop and manage relationships with funders, partners and within the service community.Staff members will be expected to work across all five boroughs of NYC and staff must be flexible with field work, emergency response and scheduling to meet the needs to program and people served.
