Job Summary:

Under general supervision, this position is responsible to oversee all aspects of Employee related Litigation. The incumbent will review and provide guidance on all matters alleging or involving Agency Complaints, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charges, Wage/Hour actions, Discrimination, Retaliation, Wrongful Termination, Class Actions, Whistleblower allegations, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) investigations, and manage all subpoena and other record requests for employment related issues. This position will work closely with the People Compliance team in consultation and recommendations on employment related issues.

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:

• Assure responses to all litigation matters are answered timely and accurately, including, but not limited to answers to lawsuits, discovery requests, position statements on EEOC type complaints, subpoenas, etc.; review and approve answers and responses to all litigation matters

• Review, analyze and approve financial transactions and case budgets

• Travel nationwide to attend depositions, mediations, and trials

• Assist Sr Employment Litigation Counsel with preparation for depositions, mediations, and trials

• Become familiar with all applicable insurance coverage that is available to J.B. Hunt and understand how to apply those coverages to pending matters

• Assist in the production and accuracy of all monthly reports on all employee litigation files

• Provide guidance and first line help for employees within the entire Risk Management Team

• Attend industry seminars and training sessions

• Perform other duties as required or assigned

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Juris Doctorate from an accredited Law School with up to 1 year of managing claims, litigation, transportation, or relevant experience, and/or military equivalent. Licensed to practice law (and in good standing) in at least one jurisdiction

AND Demonstration of the following skills and abilities through education, certifications, military, or other experiences

Ability to process information with high levels of accuracyAbility to manage multiple priorities with competing deadlinesJob requires employee to travel


Preferred Qualifications:

Up to 1 year of relevant experience (post law school)Admission to the Bar in a recognized StateFamiliarity with insurance programs and working knowledge of contract interpretationAbility to form strong arguments and defend a position professionallyAbility to maintain professionalism while dealing with difficult individualsAbility to make independent, time-sensitive decisionsAbility to work both individually and as part of a teamAbility to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas through various mediumsAbility to work with under minimal directionStrong knowledge of legal research and analysisPrevious experience in litigation support or a similar legal roleProficiency in using legal research tools and softwareKnowledge of e-discovery tools and processesAbility to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion

Compensation:

Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.  This position may be eligible for annual bonus and incentives based on profitability or volumes in accordance with the terms of the Company’s bonus and incentive plans, as applicable and in effect from time to time.
