OVERVIEW:
The Employment Specialist is responsible for teaching the Culinary Training Academy’s Life Skills class, building relationships with local employers, and supporting participants of the Joseph McFee Center & the Culinary Training Academy with job placement and retention.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Culinary Training Academy:
Teach the Culinary Training Academy’s Life Skills class, schedule guest speakers, employment-related outings, and special projects for participants Community outreach and engagement to promote and recruit for the program Attend hiring events and job fairs Build relationships with community-based organizations and local employers Assist with day-to-day administrative work, data entry, and tracking, fiscal processing, tracking job placements, retention, and maintaining participant recordsJoseph McFee Center:
Host Job Readiness Workshops Maintain relationships and make appropriate referrals to other service and training providers Other related duties as requiredEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent (required) CA driver’s license (required) Bachelor’s Degree (preferred) Experience as a job developer working with justice-involved, formerly homeless, or adults in recovery programs (2 years preferred) Experience providing employment-related case management, career readiness, and employment retention services Experience with Microsoft programsSKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to lead Excellent communication skills Team player Understanding of the special employment needs of diverse groups Ability to work with a diverse populationPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
