The Employment Specialist for the Norfolk County Sheriff’s Office shall follow the Department’s Chain of Command policy and work within Administration under the direction of the Director of Reentry Services. The Employment Specialist shall be responsible for the duties pertaining to the coordination of inmate program and employment needs, as well as the coordination with community partners/outside agencies.
STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Shall obtain and hold Resume Writer or Career Counseling Certification
· Shall research employment trends and work with appropriate staff to ensure programming and training are responsive to the employment needs of the area.
· Shall develop, maintain, and track updates to the CORI-friendly employer list
· Shall develop and maintain relationships with H.O.P.E. staff to assist with warm hand-off forJIIs at NCSO and assist HOPE Center in job placement assistance for clients
· Shall create job fairs and identify employers for those currently or previously incarcerated and with community partners
· Shall develop and maintain relationships with employers within the community and create a referral system for those with criminal records
· Shall act as liaison to community providers and maintain frequent on-going contact with community providers and/or reentry services.
· Shall ensure statistics and reports are given as required.
· Shall aide and facilitate interviews and placement for individuals.
· Shall work with individuals in seeking outside training and educational opportunities to fulfill employment requirements.
· Shall be knowledgeable of and responsible for complying with ACA standards, policies and procedures of the Norfolk County Sheriff’s Office.
· Shall perform any and all responsibilities as assigned by the Sheriff or his designee
· Able to flex working hours to meet institutional needs and program coordination
· Attend community and institutional events to represent the Norfolk Sheriff’s Office
· And shall perform other duties as assigned
