Job Title: Employment Specialist
Job Summary:
The Assertive Community (ACT) team is hiring an Employment Specialist to join their dedicated team and make a positive impact on the lives of individuals with severe mental illness (SMI) and co-occurring substance use disorders. The ideal candidate will have the opportunity to support clients in finding competitive employment using the Individualized Placement and Support (IPS) plan. IPS model includes assessing employment preferences, providing benefits counseling, job readiness assistance, and connecting clients to opportunities and resources.
As an Employment Specialist, at least 65% of your time will be spent in the community, conducting client visits in their residences, shelters, or other community locations, and networking with local employers for job development. Ensuring a collaborative and cohesive approach to supporting clients' employment goals. The Employment Specialist will be a vital part of the ACT team, working closely with colleagues to deliver comprehensive services to individuals aged 18 and above. The ACT team's evidence-based practice provides an integrated set of treatments, rehabilitation, case management, and support services to empower individuals on their path to recovery.

Shift Hours: This position is full-time Monday through Friday 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Salary: The salary range for the role is $50,000 - $55,000 per year.
Location Address: 2090 Adam Clayton Powell Jr Boulevard, New York, NY 10027. Our offices are easily accessible by public transportation.
Workplace Flexibility: Flexible - Staff have flexibility to complete their work day from home or another suitable space, typically after reporting to the office and/or engaging in field or community-based work.
What You Will Be Doing:
Use Individualized Placement and Support (IPS) model to identify clients who have a vocational goal, assess clients vocational preferences and readiness, support clients in finding and maintaining employment, provide benefits counseling;Develop network and relationships with local employers for job development;Collaborate with clients’ support networks as needed to promote progress and success in their vocational goal;Use motivational interviewing, recovery and trauma-informed approaches when delivering services;Complete foundational and ongoing training as required by the Office of Mental Health and CASES;Provide at least 65% percent of services in the community, including but not limited to: conducting clients’ visits in their residence, shelter, community locations, and networking with local employers for job development.;Attend and participate in daily team meetings with ACT team members to discuss clients’ clinical and case management issues and needs;Complete documentations required by the NYS Office of Mental Health (OMH) and NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene’s (DOHMH) licensing guidelines, NYS Medicaid billing guidelines (when services are Medicaid reimbursable) as well as per CASES ACT Policy and Procedures;Provide culturally competent services in accordance with CASES policies and practice.
What We Are Looking For:
At least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent (GED or TASC).At least 6 months of personal or professional experience in human services.Ability to travel independently throughout the community and outreach with local employers.Highly organized and self-motivated.Candidates with lived experiences are encouraged to apply.Preferred Skills:
Experience working with individuals with serious mental illness, co-occurring substance use disorders, and/or criminal legal involvement.Experiences and/or training in vocational counseling, IPS model, and job development.Fluency in Spanish.Benefits:
