Position Summary / Career Interest:As part of the centralized Analytics and Business Intelligence department, an EMR Developer works to fulfill analytical requests generated by all departments within the health system. Content developed by this role in the EMR environment should be designed to improve patient care, enhance patient engagement, advance operational efficiency, and improve the health system's financial position. This role adds value to the health system by enhancing application functions, advancing the skills of their teams, and providing better service and products for their customers.

Successful candidates should have strong critical thinking and communication skills with an analytical mindset. Attention to detail is an important characteristic for candidates interested in this position. Candidates should be comfortable operating in a dynamic environment with ability to balance multiple priorities and competing deadlines.

Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions

Essential Skills
* Contribute and maintain content in the business intelligence solution catalog and associated metadata records.
* Expert ability to translate analytical business requirements within request and design solutions that meet the needs of the customers.
* Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code with focus on reliability embedded in development standards to support data processes.
* Expert ability to understand workflows, data collection methods, and reporting solutions to present advantages/disadvantages of analytical options available to the customer.
* Accurately estimate the size of development requests.
* Manage individual workload and work of the team to deliver agreed upon project milestones.
* Responsible for integrity of the outputs including validation of the data in analytical solutions, systems, and data domains.Improve Efficiency
* Promote and enforce development best practices within the team.
* Proactively identify opportunity to improve an existing content development process, communicating these opportunities to internal teams as well as customers where relevant.
* Work closely with analytics and business intelligence managers to identify, recommend, develop/modify and support data and business intelligence strategies resulting from system changes, upgrades, implementations, etc.
* Engage with customers, analysts, and vendors for design, planning, implementation, and problem resolution using effective communication and appropriate follow-up.
* Assess skillsets of junior team members and delegate tasks appropriately.
* Discover opportunities for an organization to improve its systems and processes through the use of data analytics.
* Review tasks critically and ensure they are appropriately prioritized and sized for incremental delivery.Onboarding
* Onboard new EMR Developers from the technical perspective (development environment overview, available data models and associated tools, development best practices, etc.).
* Provide ongoing technical training, support, and mentorship to EMR Developers to enhance their competencies and build their expertise in the analytics and business intelligence space.Leadership
* Lead approximately a 3-person development teams through specific projects, from requirements development through to deployment.
* Lead review of EMR upgrade documentation release notes, create follow-up tasks, and find and complete follow-up tasks for release and determine how to implement the changes.
* Lead EMR upgrades to ensure all analytical solutions are functioning as intended, testing analytics build in a specified testing environment and volume testing in production environment.
* Build team consensus and lead adoption around new technology, standards, and process.
* Develop working relationships with operations business partners and anticipates customer needs.
* Contribute to the data governance advisory group.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelors Degree in Computer Science/Information or related field (or equivalent years in experience)5 or more years experience working with one or more Epic suite of analytical tools such as Crystal, Radar, Reporting Workbench, SlicerDicer, etc.5 or more years data analysis and content development experience in a healthcare environment (including knowledge of standard healthcare nomenclator and terminology)3 or more years SQL experience in a relational database1 or more years experience leading a team, mentoring staff, or successfully managing large projects with multi-function team coordination


Preferred Education and Experience

Master's Degree in Business/ Health Administration, Computer Science/ or related fieldExperience developing applications with one or more business intelligence tools such as Power BI, Qlik, SAP Business Objects, Tableau, etc.Experience with database management technologiesExperience in database building, maintenance, and reportingStrong business knowledge of healthcare industry


Required Licensure and Certification

Epic certification in 5+ data model(s)


Preferred Licensure and Certification

Project management, Lean, Six Sigma, Agile certificationMS Certifications: Power BI Data Analyst Associate


Knowledge Requirements

Proficiency with MS Office products ​
