EMS Clinical Program Coordinator
Job Description MAIN FUNCTION: Administer all programs relating to Emergency Medical Services including planning and creation of courses, recruiting enrollment, coordinating finances, training, and hiring of qualified faculty, administering testing and evaluating the progress, compliance, and effectiveness of such programs in conjunction with the Paramedic Program Director, Program Medical Director, and the Southern Tier Regional EMS Council, Inc. Reports to Chair of Emergency Medicine. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: + Assists in developing and maintaining short- and long-range plans for formal EMS and health-related training programs throughout the region. Maintains communications between and among all EMS providers in the Counties, the Counties’ EMS coordinators, and Emergency Management Coordinators, as appropriate, the Council, other regional and State EMS Councils, and the NYS DOH to assure regional integration and coordination of training efforts. + Promotes and conducts training courses throughout the region, as Assists the STREMS Council with the Annual EMS Conference. + Schedules, publicizes (internet), monitors, and provides administrative oversight of EMS training activities with those individuals and organizations that have specific EMS functions in the area and at the State level. + Assists with planning and conducts faculty recruitment and development for EMS + Maintains certification/ personnel files on all CIC and Certified Lab Instructors to ensure EMS programs have a current NYS DOH CIC and the correct CLI state-mandated ratios. + Performs as the fiduciary agent for funds in general on behalf of the organization including collection of payment for courses + Assists instructors in creating course / student paperwork and maintains records as per NYS DOH BEMS requirements. + Creates accessible and welcoming learning environments that are supportive and inclusive of all students, considering the diverse and intersecting identities and backgrounds that many of those students may hold or claim. + Assists with maintaining the STREMS Preceptor program. + Act as a contact for EMS providers and others in the Southern Tier sub- + Assists with planning , promoting, and developing EMS activities in the areas, including but not limited to BLS and ALS expansion/refinement of programs. Hospital/pre-hospital interface and coordination + Represents the specific interests of the Regional Council and Arnot and other interested parties to adjoining EMS Councils and area community colleges. + Maintains appropriate up-to-date written inventory lists of EMS training equipment, texts, AV materials, and supplies for Arnot. + Maintains Arnot - NYS DOH BEMS contracts (sponsorship) in conjunction with the Arnot Paramedic Program Director to provide training and to receive funding from the NYS DOH Maintains records pertaining to the EMS training programs in full compliance with current record retention rules and regulations of the NYS Education Department and in accordance with the terms of the Sponsor’s Agreement with NYS DOH BEMS. + Assists with planning non-credit EMS courses/classes offered through Such courses would be for continuing education requirements for EMS providers’ recertification. + Attend NYSDOHBEMS State Council Meetings to stay updated on changes to the EMS field. + Responsible for functions related to maintaining COAEMPS accreditation. + Regularly reviews and revises Arnot EMS Program Website to ensure content is up to date. + Is responsible for attending all annual mandatory educational programs as required by position + Employee understands and demonstrates the importance of satisfying the needs of the customer/patient by interacting with him/her in a friendly and caring way, being attentive to the customer’s needs, both psychologically and physically, and by taking the initiative to maintain communication with the customer in order to provide a secure and pleasant experience with the Medical Center. + It is understood that this lists typical duties for the classification and is not to be considered inclusive of all duties which may be assigned. EDUCATION: Required: Current NYS Certified EMT-Paramedic. NYS Certified Instructor Coordinator or willing to obtain within two (2) years. Preferred: BLS, ACLS, PALS Instructor preferred. EXPERIENCE: Required: Minimum five years’ active EMS experience. Preferred: Experience in administering a comprehensive program in delivering an educational program for EMS providers. Three (3) years’ experience in EMS teaching at various levels. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires light, moderate, or considerable physical effort. Frequently lift 15 lbs, occasionally lift 25 lbs (box of paper) EXPOSURE CATEGORY: Category II. Tasks that involve no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues.
