Takes a leadership role in course development through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of classroom, laboratory, clinical and on-line instruction. Responsibilities Essential Duties and Responsibilities Demonstrates attributes of a professional educator: Self-motivated, effective communicator, effective time manager, team player, organized, knowledgeable, prepared, confident, respectful, student advocate. Responsible for EMT, AEMT ,Paramedic and/or AHA Course development using the guidelines and curriculum outlined by state ( Wisconsin Department of Family Services and HFS 110) and/or the appropriate national agencies (CoAEMSP, FEMA, American Heart Association, etc.). Demonstrates the ability to provide quality instruction in all learning domains ( Cognitive, Psychomotor and Affective) Applies the principles of Adult Learning to the classroom Demonstrates the ability to set clear and obtainable goals and objective for course participants and then monitor and evaluate student progress according to state, overseeing agency and/or department criteria Engages the learner and provides well timed and effective feedback Provides mentorship and/or supervision to the novice instructor Instructs in the at least one of the American Heart Association Classes (BLS, ACLS, PALS). Document, collect, maintain and submit accurate class records Teach at varied time and places using varied formats based on student demand: Day or evening, main campus, mobile Sim lab or on site of students' employment. Demonstrates exceptional customer service and interacts effectively with students, customers and Mercy Partners of all disciplines. Education and Experience Graduation from a University or Community College with a degree or certificate in an Emergency Care discipline (i.e.: EMT, AEMT, Paramedic, RN, PA, DO, MD, Law Enforcement). CPR within 90 days If RN, BSN preferred or enrolled in BSN program. Two years of experience providing Emergency Care in ones State of Wisconsin Licensed level. Certification and Licensure Required certification applicable to training assigned (i.e. State of Wisconsin Licensed Emergency Care Provider, or other applicable certification, such as EMT, AEMT, Paramedic, RN, PA, DO or MD) State of Wisconsin Certified EMS Instructor II or working toward completion preferred Certified American Heart Association Instructor in at least one level (BLS, ACLS, PALS), as applicable. For those driving Mercyhealth vehicles: Maintain a valid driver's license. Have and maintain an acceptable driving record per Mercyhealth's HR.100 Fleet and Driver Safety policy. For those driving their personal vehicles: Maintain a valid driver's license and reliable transportation with proof of vehicle insurance when requested. Have and maintain an acceptable driving record per Mercyhealth's HR.100 Fleet and Driver Safety policy. Skills and Abilities Language Skills Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of students, customers or employees. Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software, including development of Power Points for the classroom Other Qualifications Must be willing to travel off site for educational presentations 20%of the time.
