Gundersen Tri-State Ambulance (TSA) is seeking casual EMTs to join our highly committed and driven ambulance team as we provide the most advanced pre-hospital patient care available to an area of 3,000 square miles covering parts of Wisconsin and Minnesota. With a dedicated staff of highly skilled Paramedics and EMTs, we are able to provide emergency response and inter-facility medical services 24 hours a day.

What You Will Do? 

As an EMT, you will respond, treat, and transport patients in emergency and non-emergency settings. You will function as a crew member of an ambulance in both the 911 and the interfacility transfer environments. You will perform EMT-level clinical care under the guidelines of Gundersen Health System medical direction. Under the new CMS "Emergency, Triage, Treat and Transport" or ET3 model you will work as part of a collaborative team to assess medical needs at the scene and direct patients to the facility that best meets their immediate needs – be it the emergency department, urgent care or other destination that’s covered under Medicare.

Job Description:

Basic Function:

EMTs provide medical care and transportation for patients who are ill or injured. They should possess excellent patient service skills, the ability to work well under pressure, and the ability to make quick informed decisions about patient health. They are expected to be familiar with all onboard equipment, policies, and medical guidelines which pertain to their position.

Major Responsibilities:

Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of, and compliance with, all Tri-State Ambulance policies and proceduresDemonstrate the attitude of a health care professional to include, but not be limited to: maintaining a clean appearance; demonstrating courteous, professional and ethical behavior; and demonstrating the ability to work cooperatively with other members of the EMS health care systemDemonstrate the skills and knowledge of a Nationally Registered EMT per the standards set forth by the United States Department of Transportation, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the State of Wisconsin, and the EMS medical directorDemonstrate a sincere desire to continually improve and upgrade the skills and knowledge of the emergency medical professionDemonstrate the ability to render competent patient care within the guidelines of Tri-State AmbulanceDemonstrate the skills and knowledge required to inspect, safely operate, and maintain an emergency vehicle, including possession of a current and valid driver's license, and demonstrate knowledge and compliance with all State laws pertaining to the safe operation of an emergency vehicleDemonstrate the skills and knowledge required to inspect, safely operate, and maintain all equipment and tools relevant to an EMTDemonstrate the ability to work with other members of the medical and public safety communitiesDemonstrate the ability to accurately and completely document information required by Tri-State Ambulance, the State of Wisconsin, and local medical controlDemonstrate physical ability to perform all tasks required in the performance of duties as an EMTDemonstrate the ability to clean and maintain the cleanliness of Tri-State Ambulance property, including, but not limited to, its vehicles, equipment, buildings and surrounding area(s)Perform additional tasks as assigned by Tri-State Ambulance Operations Supervisors and management

Position Qualifications

Education/Learning Experience

High school diploma or general education degreeCompletion of a qualified NREMT program with the ability to be licensed in Wisconsin and Minnesota

Skills/Knowledge

Excellent oral and written communication skillsAbility to apply understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructionsAbility to deal with problems involving several abstract and concrete variables in standardized situationsProvide excellent customer service to people both inside and outside the organizationGood working knowledge of all policies and procedures including local, state, and federal guidelinesExperience with technology, including Microsoft Office and patient charting programs
