Job Summary: Provide transportation and medical care for patients. Perform departmental duties for CarolinaEast Health System, EMS Transport Department, and the EMS Manager.
Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent required. Current North Carolina EMT credential. Minimum of at least one year of experience as a EMT is preferred. Have and maintain a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in the State of North Carolina. All personnel operating a CarolinaEast owned ambulance must have a minimum of three years' driving experience. Ability to drive an ambulance safely and efficiently. Successful completion of Emergency Vehicle Driver (EVD) course within one year of hire. Maintenance of EVD certification; required EVD refresher course every two years. Current AHA BLS and PHTLS required. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. The employee must be able to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs and to provide the care needed, as described in the unit's/area's/department's policies and procedures. Ability to organize and prioritize clerical responsibilities, maintain workflow despite interruptions and changing priorities. Ability to effectively and efficiently utilize computer systems and programs. Possess the ability to relate effectively to patients, their families, physicians, staff, and all others using proper channels of communication.
