EMT Flight Paramedic

Responsible for delivery of quality care for critically ill or injured in the air medical or ground transportation environment without supervision. Highly skilled in airway management, the most important skill in managing the pediatric specialty population, as this is the most prevalent type of pediatric patient moved, and the highest number of our requested transports.  Responsible for the implementation, coordination, and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures found in Covenant Health System policy and procedure manuals. Maintains a responsible attitude toward appropriate and efficient management of medical operations within the scope of services of the Specialty Transport Program. Flight Paramedic must be able to interact with physicians and alternative healthcare facilities.  The Flight Paramedic must be highly motivated and able to care for patients using assessment skills and written standards when physician contact is not possible.  This role will also be responsible for participating in advanced medical treatment modalities as directed by Medical Director and Coordinator of Specialty Transport. This role will assist with continuing education in the community as well as education and training of future Flight Paramedics.

Required Qualifications:

Successful completion and maintenance of Department of State Health Services or National Registry approved Paramedic training program/certification/license. Texas Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic License - Texas Office of EMS-Trauma Systems upon hire or Texas Paramedic License - Texas Office of EMS-Trauma Systems upon hire. National Provider BLS - American Heart Association upon hire. National Provider ACLS - American Heart Association upon hire. National Provider PALS - American Heart Association upon hire. Driving may be necessary as part of this role. Caregivers are required to comply with all state laws and requirements for driving. Caregivers will be expected to provide proof of driver license and auto insurance upon request. See policy for additional information. 10 years recent experience as EMT-P with an active 911 service of flight service

Preferred Qualifications:

NREMT-P, NRP, or ENPC upon hire. BTLS or PHTLS provider certification upon hire. Certification as a Critical Care Paramedic or Flight Paramedic upon hire. 3 years experience in flight medicine. Trainer of Instructor experience (BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP)
