EMT Ground Transport

Job Description:

This position is responsible for transporting of patients, focusing on quality, safety, and customer service, while providing care and compassion to patients, families, visitors and staff.

Scope

As an Ambulance EMT you need to know how to:

Obtain patients vital signs like blood pressure, pulse and temperature and understand normal ranges and changes. Inform RNs or Physician of changes in Vital signs-Collect blood, urine, saliva and stool samples for laboratory analysis. Insert Foley catheters after completion of class and demonstration of competency-Cleanse and prepare patients wounds and fit patients for casts, crutches and other devices- Provide instruments to doctors and nurses as they perform procedures on patients-Assist with the safe movement of patients, such as from hospital bed to wheelchair, when necessaryTake patient histories, assist with admitting patients into the ER, schedule patient transfers, assist the RN in providing discharge instructions and patient education.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent, required- Valid Colorado Drivers License with a clean driving recordCurrent Colorado State EMT Certification, required- Current IV certification, requiredCurrent ACLS certificationCurrent PEPP certification for ALS providers or PALS Certification, required- Must be at least 21 years of age to operate department vehicles

Preferred Qualifications

One (1) year of field experience

Physical Requirements:

Interact with others by effectively communicating, both orally and in writing.Operate computers and other office equipment requiring the ability to move fingers and hands.See and read computer monitors and documents.Remain sitting or standing for long periods of time to perform work on a computer, telephone, or other equipment.May require lifting and transporting objects and office supplies, bending, kneeling and reaching.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience. 

$18.29 - $22.88
