Endodontist (part time) - School of Dental Medicine Overview Date Posted: 1/8/2025 Location: LECOM Defuniak Springs Dental Clinic Address: 101 LECOM Way City: Defuniak Springs State: FL Country: United States of America Category: Education Employment Status: Part-time Description JOB SUMMARY: The Endodontist will specialize in the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of any damage and/or injury to the tooth pulp, as well as, the tissue and nerves within and surrounding the root of a tooth that have become damaged or infected due to some type of bacteria. CHARACTERISTIC JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: + Assume quality of care for patients with endodontic problems while adhering to the highest standard of dental practice ethics and professionalism; + Examines, diagnoses, and treats diseases of dental pulps and periapical tissues of teeth; + Evaluates findings and prescribes method of treatment to prevent loss of teeth and to restore teeth to function; + Examines, diagnoses, and treats diseases of nerve, pulp, and other dental tissues affecting vitality of teeth: Examines teeth, gums, and related tissues to determine condition, using dental instruments, X-Ray, and other diagnostic equipment; + Diagnoses condition and plans treatment; + Treats exposure of pulp by pulp capping or removal of pulp from pulp chamber and root canal, using dental instruments; + Performs partial or total removal of pulp, using surgical instruments; + Treats infected root canal and related tissues, and fills pulp chamber and canal with endodontic materials; + Faculty member will contribute and be responsible for overall student success, including, but not limited to, advising and student outcomes; + Faculty member will contribute directly to the Mission of LECOM embodying the essence of Osteopathic Principles and Practices by assisting with Institutional fundraising and participating in the LECOM Scholarship Auction; + Faculty member will participate in scholarly activity so to enrich and broaden the student learning experience; + Faculty member will commit to being a representative of LECOM by being actively involved in the community, including, but not limited to, serving on Boards, participating in community fundraisers and overall outreach; + Removes pathologic tissue at apex of tooth, surgically; + Reinserts teeth that have been knocked out of mouth by accident; and + Be able to accept other duties assigned/needed. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education and experience equivalent to: The successful candidate will be a licensed DMD or DDS. Must have or have the capability to get a Florida dental license. Must have successfully completed an advanced education program in endodontics accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of the ADA.
