Come join our team where you have onsite training. No experience necessary. An endoscopy technician, also known as a “gastrointestinal tech (GI),” works alongside physicians and nurses who diagnose and treat patients for gastrointestinal issues using an endoscope. An endoscope is a small flexible tube with a light and camera attached so doctors can see inside a patient’s digestive tract. Endoscopy technicians prepare rooms and equipment before endoscopic procedures and clean up and sterilize after procedures. Ambulatory Surgery Center hours of operation is 6:30AM- 5PM. Shifts are 8 hours which are staggered to accommodate patient procedure flow. Will train to cover Inpatient Endoscopy at St. Mary’s Hospital -Madison and call required weeknights, weekends, and holidays.
Job Summary:
Maintains a clean/sterile field to provide support for providers during endoscopy procedures. Prepares and maintains instruments and equipment and demonstrates expertise in the operation and function of required instruments and equipment.Job Responsibilities and Requirements:
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Anticipates and plans individualized care for the patient for all routine endoscopic procedures and anticipates most unexpected patient and provider needs.Runs the table and/or endoscopic equipment and assists the provider on all types of procedures utilizing the principles of surgical asepsis, infection control, universal precautions and life safety.Maintains an orderly and organized work environment and takes responsibility for the maintenance and care of all equipment.Prioritizes effectively, implements problem solving skills and performs in a coordinated manner when delivering care in high stress environments.Demonstrates expertise in the operation and function of instrumentation and equipment for routine endoscopic procedures performed.Maintains endoscopic scopes and instruments, demonstrating understanding of appropriate cleaning, high level disinfection and/or sterilization methods and serves as a resource and mentor to less experienced staff on cases, equipment and instrumentation.Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.Performs other duties as assigned.EDUCATION
High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience
