Endoscopy Technician - Full-time - Days
Under general supervision, functions as an assistant to the physician and the professional nursing staff during diagnostic and therapeutic Endoscopic procedures.

Education:

High school diploma and/or equivalent.

Successful completion of an educational orientation preceptorship in the unit.

Experience:

Six (6) months experience in direct patient care with acute and chronic medical/surgical patient population.

Skills:

Knowledge of anatomy and physiology to be able to assist and anticipate the needs of the physician and the Registered Nurse during procedures.              Interpersonal and oral communication skills necessary to interact with patients, physicians and other patient care personnel, occurring primarily under stressful and high-risk situations.Analytical skills necessary to organize and prepare procedure room according to standard methods and guides. Ability to accurately identify large volume of endoscopic instruments and supplies.

Licensures, Certifications:

Current registration with Maryland State Board of /Examiners of Nurses as a Certified Nursing Assistant is required. Successful completion of one semester clinical rotation in an accredited nursing program.Certificate for completion of a Nursing Assistant Program from a state approved program.Heart saver (CPR Certification).

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Assists on assigned endoscopic procedures under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse and Physician.Assists the Registered Nurse with preparing patient. Prepares for scheduled endoscopic procedure by arranging set-up of equipment and accessories required for specific procedures according to physician's preference.Assists physician with positioning patient.  Passes instruments, supplies and equipment to physician and registered nurse during procedures, holds equipment and acts to anticipate and respond to physician's needs during course of procedure.Receives specimens and passes them from the designated area to the circulating nurseAssists with cleaning procedure rooms according to established procedures following each case; cleans and returns instruments, supplies and equipment to appropriate areas.Cleans, disinfects and sterilizes equipment after use.Maintain and high level disinfects equipment per GBMC Policy.Performs related clerical and service duties such as answering phones, relaying messages, transporting patients to and from procedures and requisitioning supplies.When needed, assist physicians with advancing the scope during EGD and Colonoscopy procedures.                               Perform other delegated procedures within their competency

Pay Range

$16.44 - $24.97

Final salary offer will be based on the candidate's qualifications, education, experience and alignment with our organizational needs.
