Atlantic Health System is seeking a Per Diem Endoscopy Technician II at Chilton Medical Center. Required hours are: 7:00am-3:00pm including on-call and weekends (as needed in department).
Essential Functions:
Sets the endoscopy room by surgeon preference. Efficiently turns the room over between cases, including the proper pre-cleaning of the scopes.
Cleans and performs routine maintenance on endoscopic equipment (reclean, leak test, decontaminate, inspect, disinfect, transport and store endoscopes in accordance with industry standards, guidelines and regulations and manufacturer's instructions for use).
Assists the procedure team by passing the required instruments to the physician, as directed.
Assists with all types of endoscopic procedures, including emergencies, utilizing endoscopes, accessories, and any therapeutic equipment needed for the procedure.
Assists in collection of specimens according to policy.
Maintains accurate records and logs related to the reprocessing scopes and QA monitoring. Properly labels specimens and records them in the specimen logbook.
Uses and maintains equipment according to manufacturer recommendations.
Maintains a clean work area throughout scope process.
Restocks endoscopy room with designated supplies.
Notifies supervisor of any malfunction of equipment.
Completes all the yearly unit and hospital-based competencies and annual mandatory training.
Observes and maintains isolation precautions; maintains standard precautions on all patients.
Attends staff meetings regularly.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
To provide a safe environment to our patients, we require that all candidates must be able to read, write and speak English.
BLS Certification required.
Relevant Experience:
Basic Knowledge of Medical Terminology.
Prior experience working in a hospital or healthcare facility preferred.
3-5 years of Endoscopy or central sterile tech experience preferred.
