We are hiring an **Energy Engineer** to join our **Experimental Station** team located in **Wilmington, DE.** The **Energy Engineer** will provide global consulting services in all aspects of energy production and use within an industrial environment. The **Energy Engineer** works with site teams and Manufacturing Technology (MT) engineers to design and implement effective and innovative energy conservation measures and demand-side management strategies in buildings and facilities. This work includes technical support to plant operations as well as development of capital projects. Typical areas of application include but are not limited to: troubleshooting energy use in a wide variety of unique industrial processes; troubleshooting or specifying utility system equipment such as boilers and the steam systems they support, heat transfer fluid heaters and vaporizers, chillers and the systems they support, air compressors and the systems they support, water distribution systems, cooling towers and their systems, HVAC systems and equipment as applied to industrial environments and heat transfer equipment using utilities; conducting large technically demanding energy assessments at sites world-wide; advocating for energy best practices within businesses; and supporting corporate sustainability goals. **Your Key Responsibilities:** + Analyze systems and equipment to determine optimum operating conditions and diagnose issues impacting energy consumption; develop and recommend strategies to maximize operating efficiency. + Review data from Energy Management and Information Systems (EMIS), such as a building automation system, and utility billing and meter data to identify opportunities for energy and operational savings. + Perform technical energy audits and Energy Conservation Measures payback calculations, draft technical reports on findings. + Research, test, and summarize benefits of energy efficiency and renewable energy project concepts. + Provide consultation for Safety Instrumented Systems and their use in PHA and LOPAs as applied to combustion systems. + Provide consultation for Burner Management Systems and their use in PHA and LOPAs. + Support operations, maintenance, and engineering to troubleshoot and resolve production and quality issues in manufacturing plants. + Support DuPont corporate sustainability goals and consult with sustainability leaders. + Effectively manage multiple programs with focus on meeting cost and timing commitments while maintaining high quality work. + Communicate project objectives effectively, both written and verbal, to team members, plant personnel, and leadership. + Develop capital project basic data packages, equipment specifications, and fabrication and installation scopes of work. Provide onsite support during equipment installation and commissioning/startup. + Generate accurate cost estimates for design and engineering manhours, design contractor manhours, equipment installation costs, installation manhours, and startup manhours. + Develop and deliver trainings on heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) controls and energy management for appropriate stakeholders. + Provide energy database support, including tracking and reporting of ECM and providing facility operational and use characteristics. **Qualifications:** + BS in Mechanical, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering required. MS in Engineering preferred. + 15+ years of experience working in a chemical manufacturing environment. + Experience with power and utility equipment and process heat exchangers as well as their failure analysis and repair procedures. (preferred) + Experience implementing energy efficiency measures and optimizing equipment use and scheduling to maximize energy and cost savings. + Experience with LOPA Analysis and Probability of Failure on Demand (PFD) calculations for Safety Instrumented Functions as applied to combustion systems. + Knowledge of related plant operational practices such as Process Safety Management and MIQA. + Ability to identify high-impact energy conservation measures and manager energy efficiency projects. + Familiarity with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code or equivalent European and Asia-Pacific codes, ASHRAE Standards, TEMA Standards, NFPA as applied to industrial fired equipment, HEI Standards. + Excellent time management skills and the ability to plan, prioritize, and implement multiple concurrent projects or activities. + Demonstrated ability to be proactive, self-motivated, and able to function independent of supervision. + Position may require 10-20% travel (US based and International). + Advanced usage of MS Office 365 products and various vendor software.
