Position SummaryResponsible for developing and managing campus energy initiatives. This position will provide sound technical input and project management support in reporting on energy data, building systems performance, operational improvements, and capital upgrades that work towards Weill Cornell Medicine’s energy and carbon reduction goals.
Job Responsibilities Develops and manages energy projects with the goal of improving efficiency and reducing overall carbon footprint. Maintains up to date knowledge of regulatory requirements, industry standards, and institutional goals with respect to energy and sustainability. Works with and oversees design consultants, engineers, contractors on feasibility studies, design and implementation efforts, and construction projects. Reviews and evaluates Building Management Systems and equipment performance through field inspections, data analysis, etc. Presents on and makes recommendations around issues with system performance and measures to optimize such performance. Meets regularly with an existing energy team consisting of controls technicians, energy manager, and department management. Manages, tracks and reports on progress made with respect to NYC local law and regulatory compliance, including lighting system upgrades, energy audits, and retro commissioning. Supports the Energy Manager with a master planning effort for long-term campus energy goals and capital planning around the NYC Local Law 97. Education Bachelor's Degree ExperienceBachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Energy Management, or related field.
Minimum 3+ years of relevant experience.
Strong knowledge of building systems, HVAC, infrastructure systems.
Relevant Certification within the field such as Certified Energy Manager, Professional Engineer, Certified Building Energy Auditor, etc., preferred.
Hands-on experience and knowledge of building automation systems, sequence of operations, lighting controls, and energy management systems desired.
Experience in a research or medical facility environment a plus.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to work independently and take initiative. Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written). Licenses and Certifications Working Conditions/Physical DemandsPosition requires both indoor and outdoor work.
Periodic work in research spaces, mechanical equipment rooms, crawl spaces, areas with restricted access and noise conditions is expected.
Periodic use of ladders to perform work is required.
May frequently lift or carry large heavy or cumbersome office related materials.
May stand for long periods.
Occasional exposure to moving or lifting heavy objects while troubleshooting systems.
