Job Description

AECOM has a position available for an Energy Engineer to join our growing Energy Team. The successful candidate should be a dynamic, self-directed individual with an excellent understanding of mechanical systems in large buildings and a demonstrated skill for developing energy efficiency solutions by employing data analytics. In this role you will be responsible for developing and delivering smart energy projects that leverage the use of data analytics to identify, analyze, and specify energy reduction measures.
 
The responsibilities of this role also include, but may not be limited to, the following:

Demonstrating the ability to identify energy reduction opportunities through the analysis of large data sets is key to this positionInterface with the customer to identify project/scope needs and communicate engineering solutions.Conducting Energy Audits and site InvestigationsIdentify and quantify energy conservation opportunities associated with Lighting, HVAC Systems, Energy Management and Control Systems and Building EnvelopeAnalyze utility data to determine customer energy performance parameters and develop applicable rate structures used for cost savings calculationsPerform energy calculations using temperature-bin analysis methods and building energy modeling simulations to quantify energy conservation measures (ECMs)Develop cost estimates associated with ECMsWrite technical scopes of work for subcontractorsWrite detailed ECM and technical approach descriptions to be included in proposal submissionsLeading client project meetings to inform stakeholders’ understanding of data analysis output

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or demonstrated equivalency of education and/or education4 years of relevant experience must include knowledge of the energy services industry and complex HVAC systemsValid US Driver’s License, and as a condition of employment, pass AECOM's motor vehicle records reviewIndependently Conducting Energy Audits and site InvestigationsEnergy conservation projects associated with Lighting, HVAC Systems      Energy Management and Control Systems and/or performing energy calculations

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience that includes any of these industries is desired: Federal government, utilities, advanced manufacturing and/or life sciencesCEM (Certified Energy Manager) is a plusFluency with Microsoft Office productsExperience analyzing renewable energy systemsRelated experience and familiarity with energy policy, regulation, and economics is a plus.Prefer candidates with demonstrated client facing experience able to effectively communicate with and listen to clients and internal business groupsCandidates with general knowledge of the financial, technical and political aspects driving both the energy efficiency, distributed energy resources, smart energy and utility industries and energy infrastructure development (Utility energy efficiency programs, statewide energy planning, building optimization, data analytics and renewables, and energy conservation measures) is preferredExperience with energy savings performance contracting, GHG inventorying/carbon accounting, electric transmission pricing and RTO operations, utility rate design and modeling is desiredModeling/Coding Experience: Energy modeling software experience (eQUEST, Energy Plus, Trane Trace, etc.), R/Shiny, etc. desiredFamiliarity with fault detection and diagnostic analytics platforms, including integration with building automation systems and related programming experience (ex. Python) is preferred
