Overview Louisville Gas & Electric Company and Kentucky Utilities are seeking economists, statisticians, data scientists, and engineers to support decision-making in the planning and operation of electric generation and natural gas distribution systems in Kentucky, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island. The ideal candidates will be highly motivated to tackle difficult problems using sound analysis to aid senior management in making important decisions impacting the energy transition. In addition to exceptional analytical skills, the successful candidates must demonstrate a desire and ability to lead projects and have the potential to advance into a future management position. Responsibilities The planning of electric generation and natural gas distribution systems begins with an understanding of how and when customers use electricity and natural gas and how their consumption will change over time due to technology, preferences, economics, and demographics. An Energy Forecasting Analyst utilizes advanced econometric modeling and data processing methods to develop granular forecasts of electricity and natural gas consumption over a wide range of weather scenarios. In doing this, an Energy Forecasting Analyst conducts ad hoc analysis and research to demonstrate the reasonableness of forecasts and must be able to develop the reports and written testimony required to support decision-making and regulatory filings. Qualifications A strong desire to contribute to and be a part of the energy transition. Bachelor’s or advanced degree in economics, statistics, data science, or engineering. Demonstrated leadership abilities and strong, energetic work ethic. Commitment to a team working environment. Good business acumen characterized by the ability to analyze complex information, isolate key issues, and demonstrate logical thought and decision making. Good written and oral communication skills. Experience using R/Python and Excel to model uncertainty and work with large datasets. Working knowledge of statistical methods and econometric techniques.
