The Ford Motor Company Vehicle Energy Management Engineering Department is hiring! VEME is looking to add a motivated and qualified engineer to the Fuel Economy, Range, and Roadload Homologation Section. 

The main responsibility of this section is to lead all product development aspects of Vehicle Fuel Economy/EV Range Certification and Roadload Governance for US and (NA Lead) European programs. This includes leading confirmation of vehicle functionality for production intent FE/Range performance, with a timing objective to deliver by the plant launch date. The dynamic nature of this section given the span of R&Rs provides the unique opportunity to work on and test all the products in the FMC portfolio (Electric and Combustion). Objectives for the team are clear, but day to day duties will fluctuate depending on the immediate needs of the program. This position will provide ample opportunity to work on global cross-functional teams across multiple departments within the company. 

Communication skills are extremely important in order to be successful in this position as you will work daily with a large consortium of teams and have daily interactions with supervisors, managers, and frequently with Chiefs. Accountability, professionalism, and ability to thrive in a dynamic team environment is also essential.

Minimum Qualifications: 

5+ years of Automotive experience Ability to support On-Site testing at Allen Park Test Laboratories (daily if needed)

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of Ford engineering systems and processes. Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills. Automotive hardware (driveline) troubleshooting experience . Self-directed with strong ability to support a variety of projects with limited resources. Creative thinker with ability to establish a systems engineering approach to developing solutions to difficult multivariable problems. Strong verbal and written communication skills required for presenting analysis to management and working with interfacing attribute teams. Proficiency in Excel, DET,MCS1, ATI, PT Diag.

What you'll do…

Support roadload development in parasitic loss testing. This includes testing new hardware to develop mean center parasitic losses, tracking control charts and identifying emerging issues, and report results to the leadership team.  Conduct Quarterly tire audits to ensure roadloads reflect actual customer tire rolling resistance. This includes developing an annual tire audit plan, coordinating. quarterly tire purchases with the chassis team, updating and interpreting control charts, recommending next steps, and reporting those findings to the leadership team. Support Fuel Economy testing  with onsite data acquision (as needed basis, training will be provided). Support FE/Parasitics issue reolution workstreams with VEME/ESC Technical Specialists.
