Major Responsibilities:Performs technical analysis and conservation efforts related to the use, procurement, conservation and management of energy.Focuses on system wide applications and benchmarks related to both supply and demand side energy economics, covering a broad scope and range of equipment, systems and programs (lighting, HVAC, rate classifications, rebate and grant applications, etc.).Responsible for the day-to-day energy monitoring and reporting measures. Analyzes and forecasts energy use and incorporates results into programs. Recommends equipment and operational strategies to maximize operating efficiency.Identifies opportunities for cost effective methods of reducing energy costs and consumption through technology improvements to building systems and processes. Assesses existing facilities, procedures and practices related to facility condition and energy consumption. Assists in incorporating sustainable energy principles into new and renovation projects.Plans, develops, executes and evaluates various projects related to energy improvement, facility conservation and modernization which includes creating project plans, analyzing project scope, performing budgetary assessments, managing tasks, monitoring timelines and evaluating outcomes. Collaborates with leadership and staff throughout the system to gather information and implement improvement initiatives.Acts as a liaison between consultants, contractors, vendors and internal management and staff on energy related issues, new and renovation projects and equipment and operational strategies to maximize operating efficiency.Justifies replacement and capital investment via life cycle costing analysis and simple payback metrics.Advocates energy conservation measures within the organization.Identifies incentive and rebate programs for energy projects.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:None Required.
Education Required:Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent knowledge) in Engineering or related field.
Experience Required:Typically requires 7 years of experience in engineering that includes experiences in facilities energy evaluation, identifying cost savings opportunities through improved energy efficiency, and leading work teams and energy related projects.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:Expertise in and knowledge of major energy systems and energy consuming equipment (HVAC, electrical power, natural gas, and water).Working knowledge of the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations (JCAHO), National Fire Protection Association, and Life Safety Codes.Familiarity with facilities management, energy consumption and energy management systems. Knowledge of new and emerging energy efficiency & renewable technologies. Demonstrated ability to administer, and evaluate energy related processes and practices to minimize costs and maximize efficiency. Expertise in leading projects which includes planning the life cycle of the project and identifying key project activities. Proven ability to develop sound proposals and successfully implement programs. Proficiency using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint), or similar products.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:Exposed to a normal office environment.Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.This position may require travel so will be exposed to weather and road conditions.
