Job Summary

Battelle’s National Security Business Line is seeking a Senior Technician to assist the technical team in Research, Development, Test & Evaluation (RDT&E) efforts in Airbase Energy & Utilities. This position supports the Air Force Civil Engineer Center and is located on-site at Tyndall Air Force Base, near Panama City, FL.  

 

The successful candidate will support efforts in existing and emerging technical areas related to U.S. Air Force Civil Engineering requirements, specifically related to expeditionary energy technologies. Active areas of research include, but are not limited to: Expeditionary Shelters Technologies, Renewable Energy, Expeditionary electrical/power production (including power load management) and Energy Storage Technologies.  
 

Responsibilities Demonstrates the ability to perform assignments that may not be standardized in nature. Exhibits technical knowledge to perform moderately complex assignments. Demonstrates knowledge and understanding behind application by beginning to troubleshoot and interpret results. Conducts analysis of data and prepares data for inclusion in technical reports. Works on assignments that are moderately complex in nature where judgment is required in assessing problems and making recommendations.Provides input to Project Manager on time and staff resources. Trains and guides less experienced staff on specific tasks.  Assists in technical planning and has discretion when making judgments and completing tasks.  Reports observations/problems clearly and concisely, recognizing and highlighting specific deviations. Construction and assembly of various experimental systems, including data acquisition systems and instrument/equipment control, wiring of various laboratory-scale devices and measurement apparatus.Assist in the design, drafting, planning, preparation, and execution of energy and utility experiments and participate in field testing. 
 Key Qualifications Associate degree in related field; 3 years of applicable experience; or an equivalent combination of education and or experience in a related field. Working knowledge of equipment instrumentation and analysis, including design and install of systems required for data collection Good knowledge of 3D drafting such as AutoCad or SketchUpGood oral and written communication skillsGood computer skills including MS Windows and OfficeWorking knowledge of mechanical and electrical principles is desirable Working knowledge of laboratory materials testing and standards is also desirable Ability to work independently and in a team environmentCandidate must be a US citizen with ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
