Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited program with a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience OR a Master's degree with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
In addition, the applicant must meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2 (i.e., Baccalaureate in engineering or related science, 2 years job-related and at least 1 year nuclear experience, or a DOE O 426.2 alternative). DOE 426.2 experience requirements can be satisfied following employment. In the interim, newly hired personnel will not be assigned duties that could impact the safety basis of nuclear facilities. Preferred Job Requirements International Association of Electrical Inspectors (IAEI) Certified Electrical Inspector 7 years' experience in the design, installation, inspection, and/or other oversight of industrial electrical power distribution systems with demonstrated knowledge of the standard materials and methods used in the installation of electrical systems and equipment (typical experience ranging from 10 to 15 years) Well versed in the approved methods of construction for safety to persons and property complying with NFPA 70, National Electrical Code, IEEE C2, National Electrical Safety Code and 29 CFR 1910, Subpart S, Electrical Frequent use and application of electrical technical standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques Understanding of Conduct of Engineering, Conduct of Operations, and Conduct of Maintenance for facilities operating within a nuclear regulated environment Ability to clearly and effectively communicate through oral and written word, read and interpret drawings and specifications, and convert the criteria into detailed written documents Ability to exercise initiative, independent judgment, and discretion under limited supervision; develop, manage, and report planned cost and scheduled work; and develop a plan for recovery in order to successfully achieve overall objectives Demonstrated technical capabilities, leadership, and work ethic Ability to work in a project team environment and communicate well with other disciplines, customers, and stakeholders Ability to follow procedures and work within a rigorous work process Capable of handling classified information Why Y-12?
